Was briefly on the website frontpage before it went walkabout to find the new host.... Centre back Martin McIntosh returns from holiday and Chris Holland is available having come through two training sessions this week without any adverse reaction. On the downside, as part of his loan agreement Damien Reeves cannot play in the cup tie and Nathan Joynes is still struggling to regain his fitness whilst Adam Muller (wrist injury) and James Walshaw (suspension) also sit the game out. The International Clearance from the Irish FA in respect of Harpal Singh is still outstanding so he too remains on the sidelines. Assistant First Team Manager Phil Thompson expects a tough game tomorrow and from previous experience, cites the talented Adam Johnston as one to be wary of.

I've never understood how struggling helps you regain your fitness. It's a bit like 'shrugging off a shoulder injury'.
My favourite came from City, where Chris Withe's absence was supposedly caused by his 'nursing an injured calf'.

Oh yes, and the Chairman's wife, whose affair with one of the club's rather pedestrian defenders was common knowledge, was said to be 'in bed with a bad back'.

Whilst the other 'bad backs' were the main reason why City were struggling to shrug off relegation...

Spoke to him after the game and he said it was a tweaked hamstring - probably take a couple of weeks.
And Luke Malcher's apparently got mumps. We'll have our own page in the British Medical Journal soon.

Won't tweaking a hamster incur a caution by the RSPCA. Sorry

You can do better than that.

Spoken like a true teacher nik, only in my day the word must was used instead of can. The Government might use this as evidence that their interference in teaching has been successful.

Well, it's the rise of post-moderism in public sector lingo, isn't it?
You don't HAVE to do better, you can do what you like. But as your facilitator and guide, I am able to shine a spotlight on areas in which you could choose to reflect on your own performance, and offer a certain amount of general encouragement and advice on how you might choose to improve, should you so desire.
In this instance, for example, your joke was perfectly adequate, however, having reviewed your performance and set it against the evidence of your peers' joke writing skills, I felt that on this occasion it was appropriate to highlight this as an example of performance below your usual high standards. And should you wish to change or improve your effectiveness in future jokes, I would be happy to walk alongside you on that journey.

Teachers nowadays are trained to be able to talk nonsense. And ThePrisoner's joke wasn't very good.

There are more words in your report on my one joke than I used to get on entire yearly reports. The most frequent report consisted of a single word "Fair" which I took to be a reference to my blonde hair and pale complexion. In reality those olden day teachers simply had there own way of avoiding saying I was dim just as you have your more long winded ways of avoiding such truths.
....and here endth the lesson.
