Brilliant performance by all the lads. I just wish that Reeves or Mezza had scored when clean through, it would've saved me from having a nervous breakdown during those last 10 minutes.
I have to agree with CDP that Spider's save from Bentham's header deep into the 5 minutes of injury time has to go down as the save of the season.
I thought the supporters were excellent too.

Following a string of variable performances today I thought we played superbly in what was a highly etertaining game in which both teams played positive energetic football. We looked very well balanced, playing 4-4-2 with Tuck wide right and Merris wide left, supporting Reeves and Burton.
The back four of Lloyd, Ellis, Cotterill and Fitzgerald looked very solid and defended very well as a unit throughout as FCUM threw everyone forward after going two down. Burton went off after an hour but his creativity was prominent in the first half and his shielding of the ball and turning of a couple of defenders to set up the first goal was one of the best moments of the game. Reeves and Tuck both worked very hard and kept the home defence busy all afternoon. Holland was calmness personified and broke up the play well in midfield as well as rarely hitting a poor pass. My man of the match was Liam Needham - not just for the goals he scored but his overall contribution was immense - countless runs into the box from midfield as well as tracking back and fearsome tackling alongside Holland - a tremendous effort, he looks like a very good acquisition.
Finally, have to mention Worsnop - possibly at fault for the first goal which went through his legs, he more than made up for it with an otherwise faultless display of excellent handling and positioning, together with two stunning saves, the first from a goalbound header which he managed to tip over the bar, and the second was breathtaking. In the 93rd minute, Bentham's diving header 12 yards out in an attempted clearance was misplaced and heading for the top right hand corner of the net and 'Spider' threw himself full length to his right and an outstretched hand somehow managed to tip the ball onto the inside of the post to preserve our lead - FCUM fans were hailing it as a truly great save after the game.
Now up to fourth, just three points off the top, following a series of good results for us today. Tuesday will be tough as Burscough look in good shape at present in what looks like it might be a tight league. Reckon FCUM will be thereabouts come the end of the season, we will too if we can reproduce this kind of performance plenty of times.

Well done lads. Shame I couldn't get over today. Reserves were in good form giving Silsden a spanking - 8-0 I think. They had their keeper sent off and then the replacement keeper sent off. That's a fairly common sight at Nethermoor isn't it.
Thanks for the updates via text bobflymo

First game since Boston for me today and things have sure changed for the better! Superb performance today, in fact very similar to last seasons encounter at Gigg Lane, without the disasterous final six minutes this time, thank goodness!!! Well done to all
