History experts, are we really 4-0-1 / 4-0-1 against Accrington? I remember a win and a loss at home but had no idea they were almost another Stockport against us. Bruce will know for sure, but my brief internet search suggests we haven't played them since the 1998-99 season in the Northern Premier League so I don't know how much we ought to read into that stat... It's a statement of pride, not predication. There were people concerned we'd be struggling to beat Shildon, which I simply didn't understand. This is definitely winnable.

I'd second that view mog, we just needed halftime on Saturday to get our act together.

If we win the toss, can we choose to play the second half first?

If we win the toss, can we choose to play the second half first? And if they change the toss to a long throw we’ll be onto a winner 😂

See Saturday's opponents Solihull just squeezed past Ossett Town 2-1 in their FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round replay at Ingfield this evening

See Saturday's opponents Solihull just squeezed past Ossett Town 2-1 in their FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round replay at Ingfield this evening They were very fortunate too. Ref gave them a very soft penalty to put them 0-2 ahead. Ossett equalised with a header from a set piece then squandered a glorious chance to equalise fro another set piece near the end. We really should beat Solihull on Saturday, they have pace in attack but crumble under pressure at the back.

Accrington Stanley. Who are they? Pretty sure Ian Rush used to play for them

Don't think so but our own Paul Bottomley, Lutel James, Will Hatfield Lee Molyneux and Kayode Odejayi certainly did along with James Beattie.

Definitely Ian Rush. He was the poster boy of the fake anti-Thatcher/pro-milk campaign that an opportunistic PR company came up with to raise the club's profile. I think.

If you care to check Nik, he's not mentioned in their list of past and present players.

Ian Rush never played for Accrington Stanley. However his named is used in a Milk Marketing Board advert where a young boy says that Ian Rush had told him that he had to drink plenty of milk otherwise he'd be only good enough to play for Accrington Stanley. To which his mate replies, who are they and then the lad says - exactly. Another player who played for both clubs is Andy Clarkson.

This tie becomes more winnable as the days goo by. Half a new squad, full time training and such like should make for a closer contest. Add to that some useful win points from the next three games and we may have a real feel good factor amongst players and fans alike.
