I'm not especially surprised with Ash Palmer moving on, although I do think he'll be missed. Can't blame him for wanting a new challenge though, and with Stockport County going full time from this summer, it gives him a chance to get back into the full time game at a club with a decent chance of promotion.
As for the 2 signings so far, I'm very pleased with the arrival of Niall Heaton - for a defender to come in with his experience of over 120 National North appearances, whilst being just 21 year old is fantastic. I certainly think he'll be a saleable asset in the future.
Louis Swain could be a decent squad player.

Ash will be going wherever he sees the most potential. Stockport are finally going in the right direction again so I understand his decision.
He played a lot of games but was never really a nailed on first choice in my mind - he did seem to go in and out of favour, even with different managers. He wouldâve been plenty good enough back in NLN but we always had other defenders who were more consistent and less likely to quietly have a howler. So with the right recruitment to replace him I think this could be a win for all involved.

I am with Nik on this one. Ash really improved last year, but I always thought when he played well he was at the limit of his capabilities. I would have been happy if he had stayed, but his departure is no big deal (in any sense).

Iâm in complete shock about Ash. I really expected him to be one of the ones who stuck with us. Self preservation and moving with the times are no crime in football of course but Iâm definitely shocked.

I'm with Nik on this one, sorry to see Ash leave and good luck to him at Stockport, but we move on.

Southwell to Halifax by the sounds of it, too good for the North I reckon and you would guess a big earner, still as long as we get a sell on clause, I would have thought he might have aimed a little higher than the self proclaimed âmighty shaymenâ May find himself back in the North this time next year.

Expected Ash to leave, otherwise heâd be signed up. Wish him well and wish Stockport well, their loyal support deserve a team to match. What with Hereford, York, Darlo, FC United, Kiddy we wonât be short of properly supported teams this year. However as others have said Ash was a proper defender but limited footballer not that he didnât give his all each game. One view of his ankles (and the scars) at the end of season dinner was enough to know this guy has put Football above all else As to Southwell, he was always going to leave. Heâs quality and deserves better than NL really. As long as we get a fee and free up some wages to buy the next 2 Southwells jobs a good un

Sad to see any of the players who give their all leave but good luck to them. This gives other players a chance to impress the new management team and the fans.

Ok with the rumours on Southwell and the announcement of Ash Iâm officially panicking. Weâve made a little bit of progress granted but honestly Iâm hoping for more itâs starting to get really worrying. No North Ferriby please!!

Weâve made a little bit of progress granted but honestly Iâm hoping for more itâs starting to get really worrying. No North Ferriby please!! Whoah there tiger! Donât panic. Itâs early days and there are inevitably plenty of more incoming. Those that impressed last year probably need a new start. Southwell wouldnât surprise me if he left and actually Iâd be glad. Good player but probably expensive and if he didnât want to play for us Iâd rather he left. This is hardly Ferriby territory- in fact early recruitment seems consistent with what the managers have stated their philosophy to be.
