That’s disappointing where did you read that. I have known him since he was 15. He told me that he would not be at Guiseley.

It’s understandable SSL isn’t staying and I feel for him as he was a revelation in terms of his presence around the club and respect for the fans.
The appointments are understandable too though (assuming they all get on - otherwise either the Alfreton lads or Bignot would’ve been a perfectly good appointment in their own right) and I personally feel happier with some successful NLN management experience on board.

In my opinion league experience means contacts and that boils down to educated signings. And that’s a god send at this level.
In non league football you have your well known stars but the good lads tend to pop up everywhere not just at table topping teams. Logically they should be able to search a broad market to get good lads through the door.

Thought Cox was supposed to have that outlook on the player market but there again he had some undercover agents who between them made a bit of cash and brought in players not fit for purpose - lets hope the new management team are above that.

If not, prepare for the Evo-Stik.

Hope we can forget about Cox and co (a lot to forgive) looking forward to a new era with Guiseley. A few tweaks with the players Sean was using and don’t think we will be far off having a decent team. Big things expected from the new management team surely lighting doesn’t strike twice!! Interesting times ahead can’t wait for the new squad to be announced and the fixtures announced. Once again good luck to the management team and the players who ever you are for the forth coming season. Onwards and upwards.

The difference is that these two are from the same market but will know what’s what in different areas also if one of them does go crooked like Mr Cox (which is highly unlikely as these two really seem like good guys) the other is there to call them out on it. But back to reality, these two are a solid appointment and time will tell if it pays off, on paper it does though...

From his short interview it would appear that Marcus Bignot has his feet on the ground and is realistic about the prospects for next season. Hopefully the verbals of last season might be a thing of the past. Onwards and upwards.

Had the pleasure of meeting the new management team this morning, and what a great bunch they are. Very down to earth, with a sound vision for the season to come. Hear from Russ O'Neill here: soundcloud.com/guiseleyafc/russ-oneill-on-becoming-joint-manager-of-guiseleyAudio from Marcus Bignot will be online later this afternoon, and you'll be able to hear from Paul Clayton tomorrow! I'm sure AB will post links to full articles in due course! I'm feeling optimistic about the future, but equally I'm not expecting us to be going for a title challenge this season, as mentioned by Russ O'Neill, there's a plan to build a side over time, not throwing money at it to get instant results. COYL!

Promotion may be a bit far fetched but we damn sure need a good season to bring some happiness back to nethermoor.

I agree, although just what constitutes a good season is probably a point for debate! After 3 years of escaping on the final day twice, and then caving in to relegation, I think a nice 14th placed mid table finish would be much welcomed by some. I think we could be around the play-off mix, but I won't be disappointed if we don't make it given the longer term aim of the appointment of O'Neill and Bignot! I'm very excited to see who stays, who goes, and who will be brought into the club by the management team. Onwards and upwards!

Well, it certainly sounds as if the new management team have sussed our problems and are already plotting the way out - and a refreshing absence of last season's bull droppings. At a guess, it appears that Russ will provide the acceleration and Marcus the steering.
And with luck, Russ'll take on the team talks and interviews!

Having listened to both of them in interview, I think the board have made a very considered choice, particularly given O'Neill's scouting reputation. That doesn't mean it will necessarily work out - football is too chancy a business for that - but you can see a clear rationale for the decision in the circumstances, which is all you can reasonably ask. I certainly feel happy to buy a season ticket again.

Onwards and upwards! 14 is not really good enough for me, I’m hoping for 10th but as you said it’s going to be an exciting preseason and next season has to be good given the amount of skill and experience we have in management positions. The difference between 10th and 14th this season in the VNLN was just 6 points, and ultimately I don’t think it matters too much where you finish in the mid-table mix up, as long as we avoid a relegation scrap... I’ve had enough of them! Personally I see the new management team and the way the club have set their stall out already (going back to part time and stating this is a season of consolidation and cutting our cloth accordingly to build again slowly) as a reason not to panic if this coming season isn’t overly successful, in the hope that there are signs of encouragement for the seasons after. As long as we’re not in a relegation battle I’ll be content. And if we’re putting out a side that’s learning, and improving over the course of 42 games, playing decent football and showing commitment, I’ll be happy with mid table. Another run in the FA Cup or a rare run in FA Trophy would be a welcome bonus though. The way that Russ O’Neill has developed players in the past (Aiden Flint as one example), and Marcus Bignot has helped develop Solihull Moors both on - and just as importantly - off the pitch, gives me the confidence to see next season as the start of a journey, putting together the first pieces of a jigsaw of players who actually want to play for the shirt, and want to develop themselves as footballers, that in turn help us progress as a club. Of course, if we’re sat rock bottom at Christmas, 25 points off safety, I’ll be the first to say this isn’t working out, but right now I’m feeling optimistic about things in the longer term, and I’m excited to see how the squad changes and how the club moves forward in the next couple of years. COYL!
