Sad tale this one, forming a club with noble aims, the enterprise is not subsequently supported and folds. It’s a microcosm of modern football, people trying to do the right thing at grassroots level without sufficient funding / support. This at a time when there is more money in the sport than ever at the supposed “top level”, which is not being used for the betterment of our national sport, but is squandered on mercenary foreign players and agents. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44420569

Going by what I've read from various sources, I doubt that Shaw Lane - or at least their methods of going about things - will be much missed.

Always sad to see a club disappear, got to feel for their supporters, staff and volunteers who have probably dedicated a lot of time to the cause. AB
