I pray we haven't signed no.7, he was simply awful. I think we witnessed today exactly why the Chester fans opinion of him is so low!

Another good display from the lads today on a difficult surface! Again it was one team per half apart from Joe Green who played the full game. Alex-Ray Harvey was withdrawn early on too after picking up an injury being replaced by a trialist. The first strike came from Reece Thompson after early pressure from the Lions. Liburd's shot was saved but Thompson was there to smash the ball into the roof of the net from 5 yards out. Liburd got the second with a neat finish from outside of the area. Kennedy made it three and easy when Garner's header found his centre back partner and he couldn't miss from two yards out. Half-time saw the traditional early pre-season friendly changes. A Trialist came close with a good free kick but the ball was once again in the back of the net. However the Assistant Referee had other ideas and ruled Clayton's finish from close range out for offside. Yorkshire Amateur offered little but did include former Lions Leon Henry, Luke Sharry and Brice Tiani in their side. Interestingly watching from the sides was Emile Sinclair! One of the trialists, number 17, was very quick and looked skilfull, would like to see him again. Well played Guiseley! Onto Gateshead at home and West Auckland away on Saturday now! Come on Guiseley! AB

Actually, I've been thinking about how to deal with the necessity of protecting the identities of the various offshoots of the 'Trialist' family.
As it stands, we're faced with gems of reportage along the lines of Trialist hit a thirty-yard diagonal pass to Trialist, who beat his man and crossed for Trialist to score with an acrobatic far-post header, a feat unlikely to be achieved even by Roy of the Rovers in his prime.
How about if each player 'Trialing' for us were to be allocated a personal nickname, say one of the Seven Dwarves or a year of the Chinese Calendar? That way we'd be able to track their presence and contributions in each game without revealing their real monickers to an inquisitive world.
Imagine. Sneezy, who'd recently replaced Bashful in the Lions' midfield, unleashed a thirty-yard shot that the 'keeper couldn't hold and The Rat reacted first to slide the ball home.
It might even catch on...

If I was an aspiring footballer I'd change my name to Adam Trialist, then when potetntial clubs asked about my experience and where I'd played.......

As long as it doesn't herald the return of 'Roosters' and the associated troop of (don't give a) monkeys.
The Ox seems to have done quite well at Arsenal and Liverpool though.

Depends on the quality of the player I guess...

I thought that's why each player had a number.

I thought that's why each player had a number. Triallists have been playing without numbers - mostly 😈

They are not numbers. They are free men.
