My view is Very little the Club can do about anyone's behaviour outside the ground, it then becomes a public place and the responsibility of the Police.
Policing costs as far as I understand it, Football Clubs only have to pay when they are inside the ground or on the clubs footprint outside the ground, unless it's a designated away club officer who travels with the away club to away games and into the ground, this is why so many clubs heavily use stewards with a badge, cheaper than police in the ground.
The only problems I saw inside the ground was a pyro let off and some FC Utd fans on the roof of the Lions diner at the final whistle, these are usually covered in clubs ground regulations, using a pyro is an offence and the climbing structures inside a ground is trespass, this is within the clubs control, enough stewards to stop it happening in the first place and or detain offenders until the police arrive, and then the club must prosecute to make it all worthwhile.
The club desperately need good CCTV in and around the ground to catch offenders and to use it if needed.
Another suggestion to consider is under 18s only get into the ground at concession prices when accompanied by a full paying adult who is then responsible for them, if not they then have to pay the full adult price if they wish to attend a game.
What I will say as a twitter/X user, I see lots of other non-league clubs are going through exactly the same problems, maybe it's time for them to get together and use each others experiences to try to stamp it out. What is happening now is a melting pot of old style grounds, poor use of stewards, no CCTV and cheap admission and mostly Alcohol, who is selling it to underage teenagers in the locality?, stop that and your halfway there.

I wasn’t at that game, Josh, so I don’t know a great deal about what went on, only that some fans from both clubs said they were concerned by some of what they saw from some Guiseley fans. But I’m all for making mistakes and learning - if that’s been your journey then good on you. Definitely mate, stepped out of line and ended up missing out on some good games. Tried my best since then as guiseley been my life for years now. do agree with you lot though and the fighting between fans and causing problems is only gonna affect club as a whole. Every club has got them though so it’s hard to manage.

Before I got involved with the commentary etc I used to really value Guiseley games for somewhere to vent the feelings you’re not supposed to express elsewhere in your work week. Everyone needs to depressurise sometimes! But I think certain topics and language are always off limits and I have just never understood violence at all, life can change in an instant and often for a bystander who wasn’t part of it. I’m no sociologist but if there is research to connect fifteen years of depressed economy or the stress of wars/global pandemic with negative feelings among the population then I think you could start to explain why football clubs everywhere are having trouble that they weren’t a few years ago.

Good to see a much-needed 3 points after the last few weeks, and an improved performance (albeit against a poor FCUM side). But I’m absolutely staggered that I ended up having to take my 6- and 4-year-old and elderly parents into the garden of a stranger on Ings Crescent to keep them safe from the brawling idiots who trapped us in on both sides. Having watched Guiseley for 30 years, I’m appalled to witness the behaviour from the young wannabe hooligan element that were out in force - absolutely pathetic. From what I saw the trouble was instigated entirely by them, not by the FCUM fans. If the powers that be think action taken in previous years had weeded out the problem, they are very much mistaken. I’m absolutely gutted to read this. I have two even younger than yours that I have felt uncertain about bringing because of the trouble last season, but it’s been so much better more recently. I advised a friend against bringing his little one to his first Guiseley game today on the basis that FCUM had been tricky in the past and then texted partway through to apologise because the atmosphere was good and the ground felt safe. I think most of the trouble started later on in the match? Very sad to be right for the wrong reason, I thought we were past this. Thanks Nik. It was an unpleasant situation all round - not what I've come to expect from the Nethermoor experience over the years. I've emailed this information to the club along with some suggestions as to how the situation could be managed better in future - I'll let you know what response I get.

Usually sit in the stand next to the Lions diner but couldn't on Saturday as it was given to FC Utd supporters, I do hope the Club are going to send the bill to FC for repairing the seats smashed by their fans, I counted five around where I was sat
