Just to round all this off the chicken curry was very welcome on a cold wintery night and very edible. Also felt that Steve and Benny behaved impeccably at the end of the game, no punching the air just good mannered hand shakes at least where they were on show hopefully it was a bit more jubilant in the dressing room.

Had pie and chips (no peas left at 3:05pm!) at Ashton yersterday and I think the pie had must have been bought from the local crematorium

OB didn't bother with the pie at Aston so they must have been pretty bad - stuck to the home made buiscuity things with jam in the middle. I think your mistaking them as pies BigJ - more like a tortoise I myself had the 'home made' soup which wasn't too bad, stuck to the inside of your mouth though R

Hells Bells look at this weather, does it put tomorrow nights game at risk, and I dont think thet understand the concept of "mushy" in Lancashire should tell them its down to the soaking and bicarbonate of soda added to the peas not the players.

You could be right about the tortoise Richard, thought the chips were disappearing faster than I was eating them. Probably climbed in the oven to hibernate and hey presto wakes up to find someone scooping its insides out. Won't be shelling out for one of those again I'll follow OB's lead and take my own supplies. Don't know here I'll park the artic though......

As part of my ongoing research into the subject of pre-match scran I have recently widened the search to discover what other footy fans around the World take with their Bovril and their Twix.
At one ground in Mexico the fans like nothing better than the local Rattlesnake Sausage, whilst at another one in China they like the deep-fried chicken's feet and fish eye broth (Try getting that one out of a packet of Cup-a-Soup)...
Still in Asia, and by far the strangest one I've dug up so far is the fertilized chicken's egg delicacy called 'Mungy-mungy Pung', a very popular and big selling snack at games in Vietnam's V-League.
This particular alternative to the Nethermoor Pukka Pie is a raw egg in which the chicken has almost fully developed and the yolk and white are then sucked out and eaten, leaving only the fully developed chicken inside the shell. The shell is then discarded and the chicken is munched on whole with only the feet, the beak, the feathers and the bones discarded as you chew it.
Don't hold your breath for this to appear at Fort Nethermoor just yet though...
