Goalkeeping errors apart I thought we competed well today and passed the ball about when possible in very difficult conditions. To be fair to Jonathan he didn't see much of the ball prior to his injury so a bit harsh to say he wasn't up to par. Another confident and hard working display from James Hanson and Wilford did very well holding up the ball to allow others to come into play. Well done to Sean who set up the first goal and scored the second. He looked a little short on confidence at times especially if he took on the defender and lost the ball. Don't worry about it Sean just keep on doing it mate. Can we please, please have more shots on goal especially in conditions like today. |

At half time I wrote that we needed to improve to get something out of the game - and we did. In the second half the team dug in on an increasingly difficult surface and saw more and more posession as Fleetwood seemed to focus on proctecting their lead and defended more and more deeply. Wilford went very close with a header and we created several half chances - then in the dying minutes following three successive corners taken by Taylforth, the ball was cleared and reached him on the left edge of the box, he cut inside and slotted home through the tightest of gaps between goalkeeper and post to gain a richly deserved point.
I thought the defending for the two goals wasn't great but otherwise the back four played well and Sturdy and Ellis were immense. In midfield, Richard Dunning was industrious and debutant Lee Crooks came more into the game in the second half with some solid tackles and accurate distribution. Taylforth was lively down the left, creating one goal and scoring the other. Hanson was superb as usual and Wilford also ran himself into the ground and epitomised the team effort.
An especially valuable point as Eastwood were defeated. Now we must win on Tuesday at Leek to keep the pressure on.

Great performance by the lads. Last minute equaliser maybe, but they all count & a point at Fleetwood is a point gained.
To thewyrelight, good luck for rest of season, though not sure we'll see you next season as, although I fancy Witton for the title, think you'll probably go up through playoff. Mind you, you might have to beat us at your place to get through so you never know, we could surprise a few non Guiseley supporters & go all the way.
Here's hoping from me.
Anyway, lets hope we can turn over Leek on Tuesday night although as their fighting against relegation it won't be easy.
