Not being able to go to the Worksop match I gave the reserves a try and what a great match it was! I was disappointed by the poor crowd though - there were barely 20/30 people there - maybe more of us should give them our support.
Anyway, it was a cracking match - in spite of a bizarre sending off 20 minutes in. Liam (I think - not overly familiar with the reserve squad, sorry) dismissed, seemingly for retaliation after Thackley No6 grabbed his knackers during a corner- for the second time!! Same Thackley player also had hold of Adam (No10) balls at least twice - pervy or what.
Thackley had a penalty saved, after Will was skinned (not for the first, or last time!) at left back and bundled the Thackley player down in the box. Brilliant save by Guiseley keeper - but Thackley rarely had their shooting boots on and he was little troubled otherwise.
10 men Guiseley hung on to 1-0 lead, cracking finish by Adam to punish his "knacker-grabber" centre back (Josh something, I believe).
Despite the goal, the Thackley keeper (no stranger to a pie, and several years older than the rest) had a good game, pulling off a couple of extraordinary and acrobatic saves to deny us an even bigger scoreline.

What are you on about, and who the fluck are you ? Were you there?? Did you see it??? Thackley No6 kept grabbing our lads bollox - I call that pervy. Liam got sent off for retaliating whereas Thackley No6 should have been sent off for unsportsmanlike behavior! Oh, and try typing your posts in English, sonny, it helps us elderly folks understand you. Whilst we are on the subject - I suppose "Yids United" is polite is it? Pot/kettle etc.

A little chubby? He was HUGE, and about 60! Get a life you sad, pathetic, individual - footy is all about the banter and we had a great crack with the fella, he was as funny as he was large - Eddie Large! Did I not say he had a good game apart from the goal? Suprisingly nimble and agile, despite his beer belly and zimmer frame.
Were you bullied at school - taken to see the goldfish in the toilets too much perhaps?

Thackley didn't have a keeper on the day, so assistant manager was in goal. Nowhere near 60 years old, does like occasional pie and pint though.

Great effort by ten man Guiseley to win this game - the perfect goal was the perfect answer to what was going on onfield. The Thackley goalkeeper was a member of their management team who took on the job when they were without a keeper and all credit to him for doing that. He made some excellent saves. The penalty save by the Guiseley goalkeeper Alex Woodcock was awesome. It was a fast and furious paced game and mostly a credit to the players of both sides. The dark side of the game will be dealt with elsewhere. It was in fact Jamie Cairns who was sent off for retaliation - in 15 years in football he has only ever been yellow carded once so a red card for him was unbelievable. Guiseley achieved the best answer to what was going on - three points. It was a shame these incidents detracted from what was a superb game. Guiseleys players were magnificent in achieving victory. Mick was away sunning himself in Cyprus so Stu Gray was in charge. Will Boye was asked to fill in at left-back in Danny Todd's absence and ok he made the odd mistake the plus sides far outweighed them and he made some telling blocks, stops and runs and put 100 per cent and more into what he was doing, just like all the other lads in the white shirt of Guiseley. This was a truly remarkable win against all the odds but what a battling spirit. The Guiseley team was: Alex Woodcock; Callum White, Calum Strodder, Jamie Cairns, Will Boye; Liam Robinson, Will Hutton, Chris Davey (C), Danny Berry; Paul Wills (Graham Shaw), Adam Edwards (Sam Robinson). Subs not used: Sam Whittaker, Duncan Beckwith, Charles Nkolo. Next Saturday the Reserves travel to Pontefract Collieries and are still aiming to win this league - it won't be for the lack of effort. Their Wharfedale FA Challenge Cup semi-final at Otley Town will be on February 20th with a 1.30pm kick-off. As Volvoman said, with the first team away against Worksop the crowd for the Reserves game was poor. It would be nice if some Guiseley supporters realised the club has a reserve team and one that plays excellent football.
