Following on from the ‘Realistically’ thread, we thought it’d be interesting to find out how our supporters (or more specifically the Forum members) feel about the way things are and might be in the future. We’ve provided six Statements; vote for whichever one best matches your view, and feel free to post any additional comments.
STATEMENT A. The sky’s the limit. I’d like to see us grow year on year until we become Yorkshire’s top club and serious challengers in the Premiership. Wimbledon proved it can be done!
STATEMENT B. Given investment and a following wind, I reckon we have it in us to battle our way into the lower reaches of the Football League and stay there. Our support would grow proportionately.
STATEMENT C. With our potential, I think we could hold our own in the Blue Square Conference, possibly expanding into a new ground and eventually becoming a full-time club. I’d welcome the more ‘professional’ atmosphere and facilities.
STATEMENT D. It’s great to see us doing well in the BSN, but I think we’ve reached our natural level; any higher and we’d find ourselves struggling to match richer and better-supported sides and facing the possibility of financial problems.
STATEMENT E. I enjoyed our time in the old ‘Unibond’ League, winning more than we lost every season and not having to travel hundreds of miles to support the lads. It wouldn’t be a disaster if we dropped back there.
STATEMENT F. As far as I’m concerned, I’d be happy to watch GFC in the Northern Counties East, as long as we played good football and provided a game for locally-based footballers.

Tough decision on this one But i like playing in the BSN if we did get relegated which we shouldnt on the form we are on I dont think going up to the BSN P would do us any good as we are one of the smallest clubs in the BSN and look at what happened to FCFC AB

Not because I doubt the team in any way at all, but because I saw what happened against Crawley, and although I don't think that would happen every Saturday I just fear that it might happen a lot more often than it might do in Blue Square North. The management and directors might well have plans in mind to avail all of our fears - and I know that we'd support them to a man if they could do that - but if our ongoing success means facing the the kind of braying hoardes we had to witness yesterday, if it means losing the friendliness that so clearly defines us now, then I think they might have a bit of work to do take me forward with the the sense of overall confidence in our ongoing future. I think we just need a lot of assurances that we can sail on to the Americas from here...

I agree wit that, i picked C. Would be good to hold our own in the BSP and get some bigger clubs to challenge us at fort neth. As long as we don't over push with money we could do ok IMO.

True, but what if your ambition is simply to watch your team winning and playing attractive football, in pleasant and unthreatening surroundings without being confined by segregation, less than a month's march from home and at an affordable cost?

I can see it both sides OB but things change in football especially if your club is successful and im 100% with you on segregation but if we have to change to progress then so be it I must say though im enjoying the bsn by the last post OB I have a sneaky feeling you opted for D?

Irrespective of where we all might have registered our choices, the management can be certain that we'll still be there every week supporting the Lions just as much as anybody else...True, some of us might be a bit grumpy if we ever feel we've left a bit of the small club 'magic' behind , but I've been a grumpy old git since I was about 12, so I don't expect to ever blame the footy club even if I'm being really grumpy at the footy!...

On the contrary, superstew, there's a bit of 'Devil's Advocate' in my responses so far. I haven't voted yet - I'm waiting to see if I'm swayed by people's arguments.

It's the bit about possibly expanding into a new ground, and the fact that I have been able to go to all the away games so far this season which wouldn't be possible in the BSP that made my mind up not to vote for C. There is nowhere else in Guiseley that you would get planning premission for a new football stadium and for me it would no longer be Guiseley AFC anywhere else. I am so enjoying this season in BSN and the atmosphere at little old Nethermoor. Just go down the road to Farsley and ask them where they would rather be if they could turn the clock back.

Ok in that case OB, my experience of Celtic being in BSP is that it is not really non-league, or at least not as we know and love it. If that's what you're into why not go to Manningham? Next they will be suggesting inserting 'Leeds' into the clubs name.
