Thanks Rio. We seem to be scoring a few more goals than previous seasons so you never know. All the best for today. Onwards and upwards.

An improved second half performance and we could have got a point but for missed chances. We go off to the worst possible starts and the first half wasn’t one to remember Aaron Martin struck again with a header to old one back but it wasn’t enough. More tomorrow... AB

Beaten by the better team today and it wasn’t a great performance. But we’ll come again soon enough. Learning points include -
- Allinson didn’t do much wrong after the disappointing early goal but he’s got some work to do before I’ll be totally convinced. - Soleman is our only left winger. - Sometimes youngsters play like youngsters. - A weak referee will benefit the more experienced team. - Asante is a bloody good player.

Think we really missed Aram today. We found it difficult to keep possession and there was too much hoofing it forward for my liking. Didn’t think the ref treated us fairly ( or the linesman) some decisions were suspect. Chester are another team that like to fall over/ feign injury and appeal to the ref. Why they can’t just play the game (like York) is beyond me. We had two good chances to score and fluffed it. Our new keeper Lloyd made a couple of really good saves. Nice to see Andrai and Aleks get some game time . All in all we were not firing on all cylinders today. Hopefully a week to recover and train will see us win at home next Saturday
Big thank you to GSK. Sad to see you go back to Bradford, hoped we might keep you a little longer. Good luck for the future.

When you have officials who show early on in the game that they are naive to the tactics employed by some players then you are really up against it. I would like to think that this is not a way encouraged by the management team at Chester but maybe I'm being naive. Chester are a good footballing team but to resort to constantly going down and what looked like encouraging the referee to book opponents will win them no admirers. So maybe they don't care, maybe it's win at any cost, which does football at our level no favours particularly if weak, indicisive and blinkered officials are thrown into the mix.

This is not a surprising result after the Herculean efforts against Chester - regroup for Hereford and hit the heights again.

Not disappointed with the application and effort of the lads yesterday. Chester are a good side, had an extra days rest, and we were a couple of players short.
The York game took a huge amount out of us.
I think another key factor is the hostile atmosphere created at Chester. It’s a horrible place to go to and, all credit to them, they create an atmosphere where the crowd gets in the referees ear and they win all the 50/50 decisions. Many of their fans seemed to be under the misapprehension that we were a big dirty team. Clearly wrong. Like Curzon, our opponents were canny enough to go down to earn free kicks and get our players booked. Aaron Martin’s yellow was a joke - I don’t think he even made contact with the opponent.
We saw this last season at Chester of course with the poor decision to send Andy Halls off - decided by the crowd and a weak referee- which was the only decision I have known to be overturned as it was clearly incorrect.
I only wish we had that atmosphere in our armour at Nethermoor. Still I probably wouldn’t enjoy watching football as much though...
