Well we’re all wondering how the “reborn Guiseley” are going to match up against the seals. Hopefully we’ll be wise to Chester’s pathetic “throw yourself on the floor and scream” antics. A friend of mine has also just made me aware of some social media trash talk about the club too, this has never been a personal rivalry for me before but that about takes the biscuit!! Let’s get em boys!

Not a bad effort. Better atmosphere too. Not sure why we are always such slow starters, especially at home, but they were a decent side.

A game too far for us today, I think. Chester didn’t have much either but they dominated the first ten minutes and then after the goal there was hardly a chance for either team until the very final moments of the match. Another very weak referee and Chester were up to their old tricks running the clock down. Hamza was excellent again. Good energy from the subs though not quite enough quality to change the direction of the game. We go again.

Yes, no shortage of effort or organisation, but not too much quality today - slipshod passing. I thought we missed Martin as their centre backs were physically dominant. Agree with Nik that Chester had the ref in their pocket and exploited it with feigning injury and time-wasting. A pity, because they are a good side.

While among the general population there has been a widespread outbreak of winter vomiting virus, Guiseley in recent games have faced teams obviously infected with some sort of bug that seriously affects players' ability to balance, causing them to fall over if anyone comes within 3 feet of them (commonly known in medical circles as "Farsley Disease"). Chester are a well organised team, and it was disappointing to see them resorting to such tactics, along with time-wasting from the 10th minute when they scored the only goal of the game. Their physio deserves a special mention for working true miracles, by restoring players, that on the face of it appeared to have sustained career-ending injuries, to full health with nothing more than a quick rub and a brief trip to the sideline. Jesus would have been proud of her. Unfortunately the referee let them get away with it.
To give Chester their due, I thought they had the better of the first hour, but as seen in other recent games, Guiseley came into their own later in the latter stages of the game. I was concerned when Scott Smith replaced George Cantrill in the 2nd half - he's so slight, it's like a boy versus men, but he did well this afternoon and generally held his own. Chris Sang in particular continues to impress. The back four looked reasonably resolute, particularly Hamza Bencherif. Obviously I'm disappointed with the result - we would have been flattered with a win , but I think a draw would have been a fairer outcome.

Well done lads ! You were up against it today from a team who employ feigned head injuries ( four of them) a keeper who was at deaths door but miraculously after several minutes recovered and a referee who was wearing Chester underpants. Added to that a set of Chester managers who as they came off the pitch with sarcastic grins on their faces chanted “ cheats, cheats, cheats” at the Guiseley fans. What a wonderful example they are to football management! Sorry lads you put your heart and soul into the second half and were defeated by underhand tactics and a ref wearing Chester tinted spectacles! Chester remind me of diving Dover! Heads up and on to the next game at Altrincham. Thank you for the three wins over Christmas/ New Year we can overcome this blip when we meet a team who play proper football and a decent referee!

A decent performance by Guiseley today but as previously stated a game to far. Chester were more organised than us and more dominant at the back. We did well to stay in the game after they scored and could have nicked a point at the end. Chester are one of the better teams we have seen this season but it is a shame they have to resort to throwing themselves on the floor and constantly whinging at the ref who I thought was poor today. As for Chester’s management duo I can see why Salford got rid of them. Onwards and upwards.

Was Anthony Johnson the referee today? It bloody well felt like it!

Not too disappointed with that. Chester as good as anyone I've seen this season.

Chester showed enough to edge a tight game at Nethermoor today. It was limited on chances in both halves with Chester two dangerous moments coming from corners. Their first was headed in at the back stick by Jones and the second cannoned off the crossbar with Dewhurst unable to reach the header. We just struggled to break them down this afternoon and despite efforts couldn't really get a clear chance. It was a blow to lose Cantrill at half-time but Scott came on and did a good job after a long time out of action. The second half was very scrappy, Dewhurst did well to deny Dudley with his feet as Digie also blocked an effort from the striker. It was quite a stop start game too that never really got going. We pushed on towards the end though and Smith came closest to finding the equaliser but his effort went just wide. Unlucky today lads! Onto Altrincham away on Saturday now. Come on Guiseley! AB

Not lacking in effort. Beaten by a team with experienced players who know how to see a game out after a soft goal. Not pretty to watch, as too much daft premier league style acting for me. We are a young team and will learn. Nowt to be disappointed about, or be critical about after our point haul during this period.

Agree with most of what has been said but best teams for me at home this season have been Kings Lynn and York - and we haven't lost to either because they play genuine football and don't go to ground - funny old game !!
