Not sure how we didn’t get a point out of that but another missed penalty, some good saves by their keeper and glorious chances passed up.
Don’t get me wrong we could have been further behind if it wasn’t for some good stops from Scott in goal.
We are just naive at times and need to play with the second half tempo. However, our home form is dreadful. 1 win against Whitby who are rock bottom, 3 home defeats, 3 goals scored 8 conceded. Thats just not good enough and we need Nethermoor to be a fortress if we are to get anywhere near the playoffs which looks a distant prospect currently.

Bit of a worrying performance that.
Second best for the whole first half, with too many long balls towards Cassidy, who wins nothing in the air and looked horribly out of sorts all round. The penalty was dreadful. He didn't look like he'd score from the moment he put the ball down.
Second half looked a bit brighter but after wasting a few chances they reverted to type. Too much aerial stuff and no bite in midfield.
Positives were that I thought Cadman looked excellent and Qasim showed promise too. There's a good team in there somewhere if they can keep everyone fit for long enough to field a settled side for a few games. I just don't know if that will happen.

After being completely dominated for 25 minutes I thought we deserved at least a point in the end. Cadman did well, John Johnny Johnstone seemed to revel in playing against a good quality opposition, and I was pleasantly impressed by Nat Crofts - he had no right to get near the ball for the penalty. Never fancied Cassidy to score it, but if Marske were a National League side they'd have found themselves down to ten men in that incident. Mo Qasim showed some promise on debut.
I would say that at least one of Ellis or Ible has to play at centre back though.

Just like last Tuesday at South Shields we really should have won this one on the chances created.

Pretty much as above - don’t understand why we didn’t score several more but all the same, a bit too much space in midfield and one or two moments of naive defending.
Cadman’s a very good player. JJ was constantly showing, couldn’t ask more in play but struggled a bit with set pieces. Nobody seems to want to nail down that left wing slot. I thought we really missed the extra midfielder by playing two up front. (That midfielder being Luke Dean of course)

We passed up two glorious first half opportunities and were absolutely all over them in the second half, but the ball simply would not go in. One of those nights. I have to believe that one of these games it’ll drop into place and confidence will grow. And I know - it’s not the despair that kills you.

Really disappointing loss last night. Individually, we have some very good players for this level. Collectively, we don’t appear as good as our parts. There were some good individual performances last night - Vaughan, JJ, , Ible, Cadman, Qasem but we were kept in the game by our Keeper in the first half and then couldn’t find a goal. If George S isn’t going to play much we need a proper LB replacement to allow Ible to play CB - Sikora is a unit but slow and ponderous in possession and thought. As for the midfield we missed Dean last night and I’m not sure what Cartwright has done to be excluded for Wood. There’s a performance in this team and hopefully soon

There’s a performance in this team and hopefully soon Agree about the left back situation - Sikora's potentially a good player but right now not quick enough (in any sense) and doesn't like to have the ball. We were one midfielder short - that appears to be Cadman - but we are still one midfielder short with Dean out. If Cartwright isn't good enough to come in and play that 'hard midfielder' role, that needs sorting rather than using players who look a bit lightweight without Dean alongside them, like Wood and Lewis Hey.

I thought Marske were very poor and we should have won the game comfortably. I don’t disagree with the other posts we miss Dean immensely when he doesn’t play and think Cartwright adds more intensity in midfield than Wood currently does.
At the end of the day the league table doesn’t lie but doesn’t feel like last season where I couldn’t see where a goal was going to come from.
We do seem to be very unlucky with injuries but at some point Danny is going to have to play himself.
I thought JJ, Mo, Nat and Cadman were all excellent. I would like to see Nat run at his man more as when he did in the second half he scared them!

We had the chances last night to win more than one game but if you don't take them you end up with nothing. Markse did get off to a good start though and were the better team in the first 45 minutes. Former Lion Adam Boyes struck after just 180 seconds with a odd goal which bounced over Scott's head and in. Scott made a couple of stops to deny Marske who were pushing for a second after a strong start. We did have chances but the visiting keeper went relatively untested until a golden opening. Johnston was played in one on one with Catterick but shot straight at the stopper who made an easy save for our best chance of the half. A few minutes later though Croft showed excellent pace and balance to get to the ball before the keeper before being wiped out for a clear penalty. Captain Cassidy stepped up to take it but couldn't beat Cattering who saw his save clip the bar and be cleared, the penalty curse carries on. We looked much better in the second half and Crofts nearly equalised just two minutes in when his excellent run saw a shot drop just wide. We did dominate possession but Catterick didn't have much to do in the early stages, Qasim though nearly got a dream goal on his debut. His persistence created the chance from pretty much nothing when Kennedy lost possession and the striker just had Catterick to beat but his shot cannoned off the foot of the post and away. We kept pushing and pushing but Catterick and his defence weren't giving much away. Marske doubled their lead after some sloppy defending. The two goal tally didn't last long though, Cadman powered home a header for his first goal on his home debut. Haw saw a header well saved by Catterick but it was the visitors who extended their tally through Boyes' second of the night. A game we didn't deserve to lose but Marske were more clinical and that is what counts. Onto Blyth Spartans in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! AB

Disappointing to lose 3-1 but two of their goals came while we were chasing the game and that happened because we were giving it a proper go. I genuinely think that the second half was the best I've seen a Guiseley team play in years (this is a low bar admittedly). Midfield does seem a problem without Dean. Not sure that Cartwright is the answer, for me he's just not good enough playing the ball. In many ways he's better in a team at the bottom of the National League North than the top end of the Northern Premier because his physical style suits a battle more than where you need to dominate teams and break them down. Unfortunately the other options don't seem much better. On the positive, a first choice pairing of Dean and Cadman looks like it might be top class. I think things are coming together though and we have some really good players in there. Every week we seem more of a team, there is definite incremental improvement which is positive.
