I really hope we don’t muck this up again tonight but the past 2 or 3 seasons - or, at least, what we’ve had of them - have seen my confidence drain away with every passing month.
I always hope for better things and I’m not expecting miracles, but I really don’t help myself by comparing everything with the Kittrick era when we were used to winning regularly, and were almost always being royally entertained. Some of the performances in those days could probably only be seen as being ‘miraculous’, and one or two were certainly ‘out of this world’.
I’ll never turn against the team, and I’ll never go anywhere else because I couldn’t care about another club in the way I care about this one, but I just wish we were a bit better than we are, and I wish we could string a bit of a run together to give us a bit more hope. I hope that starts tonight because I so wish I could go to a match again without the fear that we might muck it up.

No point in being depressed about it. Last season was a mess and there was a big sorting out job to be done which I reckon the management team have made a good stab at. I think it feels worse because we've been getting the results away from home. A win tonight and we'll be sat comfortably in the top half. I think most of us were thinking top half this season until some exciting signings turned our heads.

I am delighted to say that we didn’t ‘muck it up’. The lads were superb and I left the ground much happier tonight…
Well done, Guiseley!

They gave it everything tonight so you can’t say they didn’t earn the win. I really enjoyed seeing us react to having to bring on Haw for Smith by just going for it in possession. It was great to see.
Can’t fault anyone who played. Just hope Danny has another 90 minutes in him for Saturday and that he can find some people between now and then - we really need a backup left back because Jameel is too good to use out there and although he played well there, Emery looks like the defensive midfield option we needed.

Also I really feel for George. That guy can’t catch a break so far.

That was everything Blyth wasn't: spirited; good shape; good football at times; resilient; made chances. Matlock were good - that was a huge win.

Thought there were some excellent performances tonight, however Matlock had plenty of chances and could easily have left with a share of the points.
JJ was a threat and I thought Haw had an excellent match. Qasim showed plenty of promise too but it was Danny's performance at the back that was the standout for me. He had his head or a boot on everything that came his way all night and it was a really solid performance from him. MOTM by a clear distance for me.
A hard-earned victory and a much needed 3 points. We need to continue this into performances in the coming weeks, starting on Saturday.

As the clubhouse emptied there were 4 or 5 mMtlock players still drinking and chatting. Turns out that they all live in or around the Bradford area!!!
Why are they playing for Matlock?

I enjoyed that last night. Good battling performance. JJ had the run of that fullback, he's starting to look like a really good player. I think the management are coaching him to be more effective, and pass a bit. The manager definitely did his bit to show the players what's expected of them.
Their left back was having a proper laugh with the Matlock fans after giving away a free kick then heading it into his own net.. I might expect a more professional attitude from a Guiseley player. At least look a bit upset about it.

Re: Adam Haw
There was one pass that he threaded through a crowd of players to set JJ on a run, and it was as good as any I’ve seen from Kevin De Bruyne. He’s learning how to ride a tackle, too, and how to hold the ball. I think he’s becoming quite a player anyway, but that pass was sublime…

Good game and an even better result last night. Thought Matlock looked a well-funded outfit, big and strong, not afraid to foul and Simon L looked very good. Thought we had the better opening 20mins of each half and then hung on after that. Our first goal against the run of play was an absolute cracker! Thought JJ was excellent but honourable mentions to Mo, Adam H, Jameel and the new boy. Table doesn’t look so bad again!

A great way to return to winning ways at Nethermoor last night! It was quite an even came and one we often have come out on the wrong side of the past couple of seasons but we got the points last night. We nearly struck early on but Pollard pulled off a great save to deny Cassidy from opening the scoring with an header. Scott had to be alive too when a chip looked to have beaten him but he backtracked and tipped the ball over. Then we struck at the perfect time, a free kick from Johnston was whipped into the box and Kendall ended up scoring in his own goal against his former club. We started the second half well too and Cassidy picked up possession before finishing past Pollard to double our lead, a neat finish from the striker. Matlock pulled one back straight away through Wiles' powerful shot which Scott stood no chance of saving. We nearly regained our two goal lead though after great work from Haw saw his shot blocked before Qasim cannoned a shot off the post. Matlock had a few attacks after that but our defence stood strong and Ellis was showing just how good a player he still is! All in all a hard earned win and a big three points. Well played Guiseley! Onto Hyde away on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! AB
