Dominated the first half, goals from moves that began with well taken free kicks, and we actually played well in front of a big crowd. Is this definitely our Guiseley?

Brilliant performance tonight. Thought we started incredibly well - the intensity and high press upset FC Utd I thought. The character we showed in the second half as they pressed was impressive. Hard to pick out any one player as there were excellent performances throughout.

The first half was great: quality and intensity, but in a way the 2nd half was more important as we showed the grit to dig out a win against strong opposition. Quality, intensity and grit is a powerful combination.

I listened to their manager afterwards saying we had celebrated the win too much and that we didn’t try to play any football, just lumping it long to Cass. I guess the top teams really don’t expect to get beaten by Guiseley any more… hope it becomes a regular thing!

Do all teams from Manchester who play in red moan about everything? we played them off the park first half when they didn't have one shot on goal. Second half we dug in and got the winner after their defence was caught getting ready for an early night and yes some of our play ain't pretty but it's pretty efective as you can atest to Neil, isn't it?
You lost mate, get over it and move on cos we are - after we finish the celebrations of course!

Very churlish from them. We battered them first half. As Big Sam once said to Souness, 'if you find a centre back who can defend v Kevin Davies we will change our tactics'

Great performance from the team - it was hard to pick out a significant performer as this really was a team effort last night.
Shame both sets of fans let their clubs down with their behaviour which left a sour taste in the mouth on what was otherwise an enjoyable night

A true team performance last night and a good win to boot! The first half we were the better side with the second more even and perhaps FC United just shaded it but Cassidy struck the winner and that is what counts. FC United barely offered a chance in the opening 45 but we started fast once again. We peppered their box and Stanway made some good stops to keep the score level. He even nearly prevented the opener, Walker's cross was met by Ible but the keeper did well to stop the header but in came Danny Ellis to sweep home after it caught the stopper on its way in. Stanway made an excellent instinctive save to deny Chippendale getting his second goal in two games. Trenerry had a quiet opening 45 but FC United came out the better side after the break after a change up top. After a couple of warning signs Rodwell-Grant slammed home the equaliser when one on one with Trenerry. The lead lasted all of six minutes though and after we had come back into the game Cassidy was ruthless to strike the winner. Despite there being a long time left in the match it came to an end without either keeper being seriously tested after the winning strike. Ellis' first goal for us in nearly 3000 days and you could see how much it meant. Back to back wins in the league. Well played Guiseley! Onto a trip to Stafford Rangers on Saturday. Come on Guiseley! Congratulations to players and staff on a well deserved victory last night. Last night’s game shows we can compete with the best in this league when we can get a settled team on the pitch. The squad can only get stronger with the players coming back from injury. I have been told the idiot who ran on the pitch was not a regular at Guiseley. Hope that’s his last visit same with the moron who racially abused Mo. If caught banned from football grounds for life and prosecuted. Onwards and upwards.

I love that interview. Really shows how we got under their skin last night. You’d think they were all over us in the second half by that account. They did hit the bar twice but we had more goal scoring opportunities over the course of the game. The free kick for our second goal was right (yes soft), but the switched off to protest and we capitalised. Of course there was quite a bit of controversy about the equaliser which isn’t mentioned.
I’m also pretty sure we are not the first club to celebrate a win…
I haven’t enjoyed an opposition manager’s post match interview for a long time - it makes for a good team talk for the return fixture.
