I really don't want to see players constantly coming in and out of the club like last season - it simply destroys any continuity the team has, especially when a lot of the loans end up being for 1 month (somewhat pointless in my opinion). If we are serious about challenging for the playoffs we need a fully settled squad. It seems often if anyone chucks a half decent offer to us for a player we are likely to accept which doesn't help.

One of the most depressing aspects of last season was the continual churn of players. For me, I was disappointed to see the signing of the lad from Grimsby as we already had a squad with CFs who had played during preseason. It sends a message to those within and outside the club….

Yes, I agree with this. We can’t surely be going to continue in the same vein as last season, with a constant turnover of players in and out, including short term loans and (significantly) …hoping that things will turn out better than last season …can we? What’s that phrase about someone repeating something that failed in the past, but expecting a different result?!!

So another one out of the door with half a dozen games gone. Do Russ and Paul speak to each other about who they are signing as it’s a bit of a joke now.
Clearly something amiss in the camp.

Has Jack Dyche even featured in a squad this season? I can only speculate that his premature departure is due to some differences with the manager. I guess it was the same reason for the departure of Bailey Conway. And I suspect for a host of players in the latter half of last season. I joked last mid-season that we might even beat Cox's record number of squad players. We smashed it - and at even after 6 games this season, we appear well on the way to exceeding that.
I seem to remember that we were told that Mr Philips has a proven track record of taking teams to the the play-offs. Can anyone corroborate this? I hope I'm wrong, but he strikes me as the sort of individual who, once given the mantle of "manager", takes the attitude of "his way or the highway".
I'm long in the tooth, and have come across a lot of different management styles in my career. The "my way or the highway" types achieve a lot of personal success. They rapidly get promoted to a high position early on, but get quickly found out. The usual announcement is, "they've gone to explore other opportunities". Because of their experience at corporate/management level, they soon find another job, but again are quickly found out- and so the cycle continues. Sound familiar?
The best managers in my opinion listen to and make the most of the experience that their employees offer. I've yet to find a manager who actually knows it all already.

So so disappointed to see yet another player with ability frozen out and out the door, what message does that give to players, agree with me or you're out. I also find the current go in hard tactics uncomfortable to watch that's not the Guiseley I've been watching since the 90s To my mind our directors should be having a word with the manager and not just about results but about responsibility. I honestly dont think that Phil Rogerson would have sat still for a managers ego getting in the way of the clubs hard earned reputation as a family club. It was a difficult watch against BPA particularily the first half but that doesnt detract from the fact that Mark Bower is still very much respected by the Guiseley supporters.

Don't blame Dyche for moving on. It seems unfathomable to me that he wouldn't even be on the bench when we have so many unavailable.
Last season Phillips moaned about not having the players he wanted. Well this season he is moving them on as fast as they are arriving!

Another one gone? We'll be installing a revolving door on the dressing room next! After all the recent upheaval we need some wins on the board without any excuses from PP.

I just keep wondering whether I’d turn a blind eye to it all if we were winning every week… I just don’t know

There doesn’t appear to be a coherent plan on or off the pitch which is inexcusable for me. Phillips record is 3 wins in the last 18 league matches which is dire by any standard. I would like to see decisive action now to change direction early enough to have a chance of challenging for success this season.

Every time a Lions player departs abruptly it reminds me of Ross Daly’s (two) exit(s) (which felt more like ‘banishment from the kingdom’!) last season. I recall in his interview an awkward few minutes when the interviewer asked the manager about Daly and PP said something like, “No, he’s gone…he won’t be playing for the club again!” It seemed very critical and a strange thing to say about a player who had given decent service to the Lions, in his appearances over a long period. But, it was also the ‘way’ he said it. Then, strangely Daly did play in a game or two before the end of season….and finally….he was gone again! In his (first) programme notes (of the this season), PP said that he thought the players this season were “better than last” (which presumably included the two who’ve gone elsewhere at lightning speed recently!) And, last season PP made the point more than once he thought the attitude of players in his team left a lot to be desired.
At football clubs, there’s a lot of which fans are unaware-eg clashes of personality, those who ‘question’ the boss’s thinking, those thought by the boss to be disruptive influences in the dressing room, and of course players favoured by the manager more than others etc etc. The supporters largely get told, what the manager and club want/will allow them to hear, unless something slips out in an unguarded moment, during eg an after-match interview. That was maybe what happened with Ross Daly in that interview. Since then, there have been other indicators that all is not completely calm, settled and peaceful at Nethermoor, at the moment.

Agree with all cdp's comments. PP doesn't seem to have a clue - we are certainly not promotion material at the moment mainly because of some injuries I must admit but game plans appear to be none existent and turnover of players is becoming Coxesque The board need to take a long hard look at what is going on as I fear another fight for survival is on our hands but hope I am wrong.
