Based on the weather forecast for next week I can see the Whitby game on Tuesday and the Atherton game on Saturday both being postponed so we may have a two week break after tomorrow’s match before the visit of Macclesfield. All the more important to get three points and a much improved performance tomorrow.

Well that was a game of two halves! Thought we played well first half, really enjoyable to watch, marked their players well and played consistent passing football. The goal from Reece Kendall was a cracker! What happened in the second half? well we lost Gabs and we seemed to lose our ability to keep the ball. It was more like last weeks performance! However Aiden Walker took full advantage of their keeper fumbling the ball and scored the second.
We were lucky! Need to be more consistent Guiseley.

We seem to start well and drift later more often than not recently actually. It’s a shame, it makes you forget the very good football you saw earlier.
We were excellent for the first 30 and ideally would’ve been out of sight. Kallan and Gabriel on the centre backs was a good setup and we weren’t as dangerous when we had to go to one up front.
Defended really well again as a unit, hardly conceded any good chances.
New winger didn’t look match fit or like he knew who to pass to, but he has tricks and speed and a good shot on him. Jordi gives us much more than Obasoto from what I’ve seen, but all of these are fun players to watch.
So, not totally convincing but three points, clean sheet and fourth place is ideal from today. Onwards and upwards!

That goal was worthy of winning any game and it set us on our way to our first home victory since the end of November. After a good start to the game Reece Kendall drove forward with possession before unleasing an incredible strike into the top corner, simply unstoppable from the defender. His goal at BPA was good but this was another level! You could tell by the reaction which echoed around Nethermoor at just hwo good a strike this was. Ten minutes later Kendall nearly doubled the lead with another audacious effort which smacked against the side netting. We had several chances in the opening 45 to double our lead with Whelan, Murphy and Johnson all going close with Hunt by far the busier of the two keepers. Battersby had another quiet afternoon up the other end but Bamber were looking to score on the counter, a cross for Edwards missed the winger and the chance was gone. Afuye was looking dangerous in his first half of football for the club. The second half saw Johnson watching on for the bench with the forward departing the field at the interval through injury. Tongue came on in his place and the midfielder added some steel to the pitch as the game became tighter. It was another half of close calls with Whelan and Murphy troubling Hunt but it was Afuye who came close to scoring. The winger hit a great strike from outside of the box off of the bar with Hunt rooted to the spot. With a minute left on the clock Walker sealed the win when Hunt spilled Whelan's delivery and the defender couldn't miss from a yard out. A nice end to a tighter second half but in truth the visitors offered little in attack all afternoon. Well played Guiseley! Onto Whitby away on Tuesday night. Come on Guiseley! AB

Good performance from Guiseley yesterday. First half very good should have been 3-0 up. Second half different with Gabs going off. Wonder strike from Reece and Aiden in the right place at the right time sealed the win. Looked a lot better team with the formation in the first half. Well done to all. Onwards and upwards.

Good game to watch yesterday. Lots of positives, my main takeaway is IMHO that most of the any negatives can be attributed to the 5 changes to the starting XI. Hopefully after a few more matches for the players to get familiar with each other should solve the problems such as poor positioning (lost count how many times 2 players were going for the same ball in the first half!), poor decision making and poor retention of possession in the 2nd half (e.g. a few too many solo dribbles resulting in loss of possession). Hopefully the start of a good run into the end of the season.

Good performance and a much-needed 3 points. Thought we were exceptional in the 1st half and should have led by more than 1. Kendall’s “top bins” strike was probably the best goal I’ve seen live at Nethermoor. Admittedly Warren Payton vs Boston comes very close and unfortunately I left for the clubhouse before Norburn vs Bromley it was natural after that strike that Kendall won MOM but I thought Kallan was fantastic yesterday. The difference pace and aggression made up front was evident from the start. It was also clear that Nsaka and Ollie B made a difference. I thought we finally saw Andy W’s team yesterday. The team selection and substitutions were noticeable for those not selected and not subbed on. Did i hear right Andy W’s interview that ABs is off to Sweden? Hope we can pick up a couple of results ahead of Macc’s visit Come on the Lions

Thought we were excellent in the first half, creating plenty of chances and pressing very well against a good Bamber bridge side who struggled to make any impact first half. Second half was much more even but we defended well and kept Bamber Bridge largely at arms length before the gift of a second goal made the game safe. I thought Murphy was outstanding and together with Johnson in the first half caused all sorts of problems for the opposing defenders. Nsaka is very effective down the left because he knows how to defend as well as go forward which gives more stability in midfield. My MoM was a toss up between Whelan and Ekpolo both were superb and made the difference in midfield with their energy and lability to break up play and feed the wingers and forwards which ensured we had plenty of possession from which to create chances. Efuye looks an exciting prospect. Overall a much much much better performance than against Gainsborough. Suspect tomorrow at Whitby is doubtful and same for Atherton on Saturday given th freezing conditions forecast this week so our next match would be Macclesfield at home where there are scores to settle after our limp effort at their ground in November. Worth noting we are top of the form table over the last 15 matches with 32 points gained from 10 wins and 2 draws. Two of the three defeats were by a single goal against Gainsborough and FCUM with the 1-5 defeat at Macclesfield the third loss. So we are definitely in the mix for the play offs at the moment although upcoming matches against fellow play off contenders Macclesfield, Radcliffe and Ashton will be a stern test. Another 32 points from the remaining 16 matches would give us 74 points and probably ensure a play off berth - challenging but not impossible if we can retain our current form.
