I don’t think anyone on here has mentioned the Euros, and whilst I’ve been pleasantly surprised by a lot of the thrills and spills, I can’t really get right into it in the way I do when I’m watching Guiseley. It’s obviously true that the players at the top of the game get all the big publicity, but I’m just as interested in any signings that Guiseley make as I am by the latest ‘Galactico’ comings and goings.. We’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the games up to now, but I’d swap them all for a Guiseley win in the first game of the season, and whilst the grounds in Germany are as good as any on the planet, the atmosphere on a good day down at Nethermoor is every bit as enjoyable for me as any that I’ve ever felt at any ‘big ground’ in the EFL or the Premiership. So all this has been leading up to one simple closing question, and it’s this: If England could win the Euros or Guiseley could win the league, which one would you choose and like to see? My choice would be Guiseley, but I think you’ve probably guessed that one by now…

Guiseley to win the league, and I’m surprised to realise it’s not even a hard decision. Good thread idea. I’d love for England to win a tournament but right now, Guiseley stands to benefit so much from breaking out of this league before we become a permanent fixture in it.

I’d like to see England’s men win something in my lifetime, I really would. But Guiseley winning the league would mean that much more. I’d feel like I’d contributed to it in a way, however small, and so had earned the celebration. I can’t claim that for anything England do.

I've always been club over country, and I'd rather see Guiseley win the league than England win the Euros. I'm pretty ambivalent about England, though I do want them to do well.
However, there is something incredibly special about international tournaments that makes them much more watchable than club football at any level. It's (generally) high quality but so much purer than club football has become. Some countries have better players than others, but none is able to monopolise all the best talent and even the tiniest nations can surprise. I'd rather watch any game at an international tournament than anything in the Premier or Champions' leagues.

England are the perrenial 'nearly men' which given the talent at his disposal Gareth Southgate should have won at least one major tournament during his managerial stint, which I suspect even if we win them, will come to an end after the Euros. Trouble is if he does go who takes over?
As for winners its got to be the Lions as, like many others, I have too much time and emotion invested in them already! Thought Macclesfield would be the main title contenders next season but with Robbie Savage in the dugout have they just blown it (again!)?

It would be great to get back to the Vanarama National League North this season as champions or through the play offs. Agree with danmartin's comments on international tournament football, these final group games have been very exciting to watch but you just don't feel the same connection with England as you do with Guiseley. Whatever the outcome Come on you (Three) Lions! AB

I think after last night we don’t have to worry so much about having to choose between the two anyway. See you for the open top bus parade down Otley Road come May…

Does anyone know if the Clubhouse bar will be showing the England game after our PSF with Huddersfield? I know there are often clashes with the cricket this time of year so wasn’t sure if the clubhouse will be available. Cheers

And so gentle football supporters the inquest begins, why did England lose,is Gareth Southgate really up to the job,did England perform badly or should we not have expected anything else. So in answer to the guy just on the radio, yes he took the top superstar players from the premiership but were they actually the best? How do you blend all of those egos into a team wanting to play for each other would you not be better off with lesser known players eager to wear the England shirt and just play. Mr.Southgate, nice guy but sticking with starting Kane just cos he's captain really! you reduced the team to a starting 10 forced to try to get the ball to him always through the middle of the crush. So my Guiseley faithful friends let's hear your considered and respected opinion.

I'm feeling sanguine. Spain were the best team in the tournament on paper and in practice. Out of 55 UEFA members we've reached the final two of their knockout tournament twice in a row. We did it with untested defensive partnerships, a novice kid to balance out a makeshift midfield, and no left back available to start until the final (and he ran out of gas badly in the second half of that final).
I think that's a great result.
I know lots of people will want to believe we had amazing players who should steamroll every other team but we're really just talking about Saka, Bellingham and Foden, maybe Palmer. Other countries had similarly good players and other countries had better attacking and pressing systems, but none of them made the final.
Guiseley will do well this season I think, let's just hope we win it outright so we don't have to deal with the pain of a cup final.

As someone said on social media we were not the second best team in the tournament although I think we have tremendous potential going forward. Anyway it's now up to us.

Guiseley every time. Only watch England when it gets to the knockout stages but they rarely get my pulse racing and don’t buy in to the In-ger-land mentality that many feel they have to be part of.
