Great team effort today in weather conditions which made controlling the ball difficult sometimes. Will Longbottom is now top goal scorer in our league and scored an absolute cracker which I can’t wait to see again in the YouTube footage. I like the way we refresh the team towards the end of the game with those returning from injury, it gives us a real boost. Credit to the Whitby team who didn’t make it too easy for us and wish them and their supporters a safe journey home.

That right George and a Wally hat-rick if I remember correctly. Rallyman And. A Drench free-kick I don’t remember Steven Drench’s free kick, but amongst all the heroics from Wally, I thought our other goal was scored by Gavin Rotheray.

I apologise , it was a Drench free-kick From about 30 yards that led to Wallys hat trick

I apologise , it was a Drench free-kick From about 30 yards that led to Wallys hat trick Many thanks for that, Mr P. On watching it again, I think I was wrong about Gavin Rotheray scoring a goal, but I couldn’t quite make out who actually scored it. That was a rasping free kick from Steven Drench, though, and I don’t know how I’d forgotten that.

Another solid performance and Longbottom showing he is a cut above, I just hope we can hang on him for the whole season. I still say we are crying out for a proper striker. We could habe had a hateful today had we had Farrell in the middle.
Also, still no word on alcohol sales outside. All be it very cold today. Could have sold mulled wine and other Xmas drinks.
People talking about raising funds for a stand behind the goals. Guiseley it would appear fly against revenue streams and ways of improvement.

Another big three points today in testing conditions for both sides but in the end it felt like a comfortable victory. The last two games have been against sides lower down the table but in good runs of form and today we looked back to our best. We had a cracking chance just six minutes in when Lufudu’s cross picked out Longbottom at the back post but somehow the ball flashed across the face of goal and wide when it looked easier to score. Longbottom also had a free kick which went straight down the throat of Bland. Lufudu had another shot which just wide of the mark. A corner led to our opening goal which Ible applied the finishing touch from Moke’s cross. 25 minutes in Longbottom scored a wonder goal for his 20th of the season, he picked up possession on the edge of the box and smacked the ball straight into the top corner, a stunning finish which I cannot wait to see back. The next moment of action came from the visitors and Gell struck one back with a finish from close range. Longbottom had another free kick which went straight at Bland. The second half was a closely fought contest and Whitby were always in the game with Cracknell making a couple of saves to preserve our lead. We got the third which killed the game off, Thewlis robbed possession and we countered quickly, Thewlis fed Ekpolo who flicked it to Longbottom who got his second to propel him to the top scorer position in the league. Longbottom had a chance to get his third when Whitham picked him out in the box but he couldn’t beat Bland. A good win and return to winning ways. Well played Guiseley! We move on to Leek Town at home on Tuesday night. Come on Guiseley! AB

Loving watching back the Droylsden game. Wally’s first game back from his transfer to then troubled Darlington.
I presume Phillips was in goal that day.

It certainly was Phillips in the opposition goal. We was a good keeper, but, as with the rest of the Droylsden team, always prone to losing his head.
Was it Chris Senior scoring the other goal?

Didn’t we have a conversation about this in the other thread and the date for decision on the licence application was in December? Not much can be done re selling mulled wine without a licence. I don’t think it’s a wilful refusal to let people spend money or we wouldn’t have had the third kit on sale, the sweet stall and burger folks shivering in their gazebo yesterday.

It was Chris Senior. I am sorry to pour cold water on rose tinted memories, but the Drench/Wally goal was disallowed for offside. Wally scored a hat trick in 13 minutes.
At the end of the match, Paul Phillips said, 'Jolly good show, Guiseley. The best team won'.

Back to yesterday… And apologise again for miss-remembering the Droylsden game but delighted to hear that Paul Phillips was in goal and so magnanimous in defeat 🙈 I thought we were good yesterday in fairly awful conditions. Will L continues his one-man Goal of the Season campaign. Hard to believe we will be able to keep him beyond Xmas. What delighted most was the impact of the Bench: Gabby, Jordan, Lewis and Liam are all 1st team players. I’d forgotten just how good Lewis was. He’s clearly lacking match fitness but his ability on the ball is there for all to see, 3 points clear in 2nd with a game-in-hand. Think we’d have all taken this at the start of the season. Come on the 🦁

To he honest I’d happily freeze the table now and head straight to the playoffs. I’d fancy us at home against Hyde and Ilkeston literally just beat Workshop so they might do it again and either way that final is one we’d go into with a really solid chance.

We did but the notice said till 4th December. Whatever, it's boring now. I just think guiseley could learn alot from other clubs at non-league level about increasing revenue. It's not just about what goes on the pitch. What's the point of getting promoted if we can't sustain it. Realistically, will be national league north level and no higher.
