Adam’s Weekly Blog No. 16
Hello and welcome to the 16th edition of my blog.
After I was unexpectedly absent from the BridHouse on Boxing
Day night, I am ending all your worries and concerns by posting my latest blog.
This week’s edition looks back at our two festive matches, a Cup encounter with Ossett and a derby clash with Bradford Park Avenue.
AD’S CHRISTMAS REVIEW
Guiseley 3 – Ossett Town 4 (West Riding County Cup)
Tuesday 23 December
KITTERICK’S READY TO RUMBLE
I have quite simply never seen anything like it.
Our usually calm manager sprinted round one half of the pitch to confront an angry supporter who voiced his concerns loudly and effectively.
“How bad does it have to get Kitterick?” was the first shout from the Guiseley fan after Ossett’s third and equalising goal was scored.
Steve then challenged the supporter to take his job in the dugout before dashing like Colin Jackson towards the fan after more angry words were ousted following the match winning fourth goal.
As for the match itself, anybody who fancied a repeat of the FA Cup match with Sheffield got that and then some as Guiseley surrendered a big lead and went on to lose the game on the night.
We once again looked comfortable at 3-0 up after two goals from returning Gladiator Simeon Bambrook and one from James Hanson saw us race ahead.
But we clearly haven’t learned from the Sheffield match.
Defensive frailties in general play and mistakes at set pieces crucially cost us our lead and the match.
Guiseley 1 – 3 Bradford Park Avenue (Unibond Premier League)
Boxing Day
DULL, DULL, DULL
As I understand from MotherBrid’s seemingly constant viewing of Strictly Come Dancing, Craig Revel Horwood used this gem to describe a poor performance.
What he was really doing, in his new role as Mystic Craig, was looking in to the future to describe the entertainment level of this derby clash.
It really was poor. Guiseley just surrendered Fort Nethermoor to their invaders. The only fight back we could muster came right towards the end of this unengaging battle when Bambrook nipped in on 87 minutes to give this game an uncertain finish.
But just after BPA were awarded a penalty following an unsavoury lunge in the box by Captain Cotterill and slotted the ball home to leave with a comfortable 3-1 victory.
If we are to move higher in the league and take a firm grasp on the promotion spots, we must win games like this.
BPA will be licking their lips at the thought of us visiting Horsfall on New Years Day. Who could blame them? They left Nethermoor with a comprehensive win and will do the same at the start of 2009 if Guiseley do not buck their ideas up.
That does it for this week’s blog. I hope you all had a good Christmas.
Next time round, I will compare the two Bradford clashes as by then a hopefully re-energised Guiseley will have taken on BPA at the Horsfall.
