Hello and welcome to the 23rd edition of my weekly blog.
Having accompanied my family to a funeral in Liverpool most of yesterday, I had no chance to write this week’s blog at its usual time.
So here I am on Saturday morning about to tell you why FIFA is better than Pro Evolution Soccer.
EVERTON RATHER THAN MERSEYSIDE BLUE – FIFA HAS THE LICENCES FOR TEAM NAMES
With FIFA holding a firm grasp on the licensing side of things, there are more teams to choose from, opening the game up to more fans.
You can play as League One and League Two outfits on FIFA but on Pro Evo you can’t match Accrington Stanley against Real Madrid.
This doesn’t bother Pro Evo supporters but, in my mind, the basic rules to ensure reality are that the teams are named properly and you have every option available to you.
BETTER GRAPHICS
FIFA simply looks better on screen than Pro Evo.
You can usually tell who a player is straight away on FIFA whereas on Pro Evo you can find yourself debating who everybody is rather than talking about the match.
The stadiums are clearer with flags around the ground and the pitch conditions which accompany the playing surfaces are very realistic.
EASIER TEAM SELECTION
On FIFA, you can select players for a team through simple player ratings instead of trying to understand the meaning of a hexagon on Pro Evo.
This may be a minor part of the package to some but to me it helps complete the full gaming experience.
The layout of Pro Evo’s team selection process just looks difficult to navigate and understand.
CASUAL RATHER THAN SERIOUS GAMER APPEAL
As a person who only really indulges in FIFA for may be an hour or so a day, I am looking for a simple and effective game.
FIFA, with its easy controls, decent layout and user friendly interface, offers me this.
Pro Evo, in contrast, is built for those hardcore football fans that spend more time playing out a championship winning season.
That’s it for this week folks. As usual, I welcome your comments and opinions.
Next week, I will state why we’re going to the miss the players that have left and found pastures new.
