Hello and welcome to the 25th anniversary of my weekly blog.
Rather than do anything to mark the occasion though, I thought that with us actually playing football again I would preview tomorrow’s home match against Prescot Cables.
EASTWOOD DRAW BOOSTS CABLE CONFIDENCE
The Merseyside based outfit have struggled at the wrong end of the table for much of the season.
But a surprise 1-1 draw with league leaders Eastwood in midweek will have boosted their confidence ahead of the upcoming Nethermoor clash.
As the home side Guiseley must assert their authority quickly against a team buoyed by such a good result.
We must look to attack with a decent tempo and create chances in order to break down what could prove to be a rejuvenated rearguard.
GUISELEY LEAP FORWARD WITH THREE OVER LEIGH
Before last week’s encounter with Prescot’s fellow relegation candidates, Guiseley were 9th in the league and looked slightly off the play off pace.
But the comfortable 3-1 victory shows how much a week can change things as the Nethermoor side are now just a win away from the play off zone should other results go for them.
We too should now be full of confidence following our first league win since November and must out muscle and out think Prescot to build on the win over Leigh.
The play offs are certainly in sight but with fifth placed Ilkeston Town having played two games less than us it is vital we make every result count.
PRESCOT MATCH VITAL FOR FUTURE
If Guiseley can notch a win over Prescot they can hopefully begin another solid run much like earlier in the season.
Two straight home victories would give the side increased vigour with important games against the likes of Kendal and Eastwood to follow in March.
We still have to face Ilkeston at home and this is without a doubt the key game of the season as things stand.
A win over Prescot would set the ball rolling and give Guiseley fans even more to cheer about.
We won 6-3 away at Prescot earlier in the season. Why can we not do the same thing at home?
Next week I will review our friendly with American outfit Columbus Crew as they visit the Fort on Tuesday night.
