What I would say about Ashton is it’s a game we should have won by half-time we adopted 4-4-2 created good chances, gave away a poor penalty and had reason to believe that if we continued in the same manner second half we should be able to kick-on. Despite the fact we ought to be playing 10 men after the blatant elbow on Walshaw. In hindsight we may have been better tightening things up because they scored early to equalise the game became stretched and we continued to try and win the game but conceded late to lose 3-2, Steve Cotterill had to come off injured, Nathan Joynes ran out of steam, Needham was struggling and on reflection we looked dead on our feet as opposed to the drive we had shown at Whitby.
Who is steve cotterill i thought it was james they called him that on the unibond website AB

.....had reason to believe that if we continued in the same manner second half we should be able to kick-on. AB Unfortunately, we had to keep kicking-off.

Yes, many thanks, Phil. I don't think we could have asked for more than that, with the possible exception of confirming that you realize the bloke in the centre of our defence isn't actually the former Burnley manager. Like tomf, it's made me feel a bit more confident. Last Saturday's game was uncannily reminiscent of the Hednesford defeat last season, and we all know What Happened Next. Whitley Bay will be a toughie, but the ideal occasion to start a similar winning run. Incidentally, if you have any more communication problems we'd be delighted to publish your thoughts on the Forum any time in the form of a locked and 'stickied' thread. Wayne's contributions were always welcome, but we felt that getting drawn into dialogues with the various 'WUMs' could be demeaning and counter-productive. Just PM myself or yeadoner. Particularly impressed with your summing up of the different types of Forum poster, and your assertion that certain members might be qualified to sit in the dugout. As our first poster to actually make the transition, you're uniquely qualified to judge.

I'm also encouraged by Phil's message. I think it's exactly what we needed, and that we now have a much clearer picture of 'happenings' within the team. I hope this air of open debate continues throughout the season. Onwards and upwards!...
