Guiseley’s quality saw them through all Unibond Premier clash at Frickley athletic ahead of next Saturdays league match between the two teams. James Walshaw grabbed a brace with one in each half and Anthony Lloyd wrapped up the win from the spot with five minutes remaining. The visitors started strongly when Steve Burton cut the ball back to Liam Needham a goal looked odds on but for the intervention of who Grant Normington cleared the ball off the line at the very last moment. Danny Ellis then headed a corner back across the six yard box but there were no Guiseley players to take advantage. With visiting custodian Jon Worsnop a virtual spectator for much of the first half Guiseley finally got the breakthrough two minutes before the beak when Walshaw got his head on the end of a free kick.
Frickley took the game to the visitors on the resumption and were only denied by Ellis’s goaline clearance before substitute Adam Muller nearly doubled the lead with his first touch. Walshaw grabbing his second as he latched on to Ellis’s header into the danger area from a corner on seventy six minutes. Nine minutes later the hard working striker was felled in the box and Lloyd stepped up to send Nicklin the wrong way from the spot to seal the victory.
Entertainment value:*** Star Man: Danny Ellis (Guiseley) Scorers; Guiseley - James Walshaw 43 & 76, Anthony Lloyd 85 (pen) Attendance: 254 H/T 0-1

Sounds like a good team performance just wondering when betts will get his first start, competition for places must be fierce now and wondering if he will be played upfront or wide left ala Hanson???

Needham got the first goal - it was a srcamble but definitely Needham's goal. It couldn't have been Walshaw as he took the free kick from out on the Guiseley right.

Confirm it was Needham who scored the first, Non League Paper rang me at 8:00pm yesterday evening to say that the Frickley correspondent had not filed a report for todays edition so could I fill in? They already had the result and scorers which couldn't be changed so the report had to be the same. I'll correct this on the website version when its restored next week.

Sounds like a high quality paper when the report has to match the misprint elsewhere. Wow.
