It was highly enjoyable & very productive I think. Decent turnout of people who care about the club were in attendance & everyones views on what a supporters club should do for the team & provide for its members was discussed. Those that were in the clubhouse agreed a chairman & sec/treasurer roles for the fledgling supporters club.
But what we were ALL in agreement about was we want more people involved in the primary discussions regarding any roles/perks etc a Lions supporters club should have. Therefore it has been decided that the GAFC SC will meet on the last Thursday of every month, meaning a second meeting has been booked @ 8pm 30th September. This is to allow any & all interested parties to come down & have their say, as at the end of the day a good supporters club is there to benefit the clubs faithful fans who watch Guiseley home or away & for the good of the club.
We would urge as many of you who have posted here about being unable to come down last Thursday to keep the above date free if possible as the more people we get interested & have ideas flowing, the better the SC would be for all concerned.
Finally ideas that were mentioned were about away travel, member fees (if needed) social evenings, fundraising & maybe discount in the club shop for members.
If anyone wants to ask me anymore details or pass on any ideas please PM me as I pulled the straw to become the chairman as no-one else seemed to want it!!

OK so who are the Chair/Sec/Treasurer of the supporters club?
I see the name Vokey is the chairman/woman but who are you?
Are we likely to get to know how to join unless you turn up to a meeting? Unfortunately my supporting of the club is restricted to match-days as i work away most weeks so i am unlikely to get to Guiseley on a Thursday.

Well my name is Simon, & I can be found doubling up as a steward for Guiseley from this season, probably standing around outside helping visiting fans questions & giving directions to the nearest bar/toilet/carpark all while wearing a very fetching high-vis yellow bib! Been a Guiseley fan since being introduced to the club via my Yeadon/Rawdon based inlaws-to-be. Born & bred in Belfast but hopefully a honorary Yorkshire lad now!
One of the reasons we wanted mopre people to come to the next meeting was to discuss as many items like how to join, will there be a membership fee, what benefits are there to joining etc. However if people are interested in the SC I'm hoping to get a board for supporters club activities & news on the forum to keep you all updated. Again any questions or ideas feel free to drop down, PM me here or grab me near the gates on matchdays, I will be there for Tuesdays game. Hope this helps!

Just met with Simon on the train home tonight and it sound like the SC have a lot of good ideas up in the air at the moment. I would (I really must look this word up) encourage people who are interested to get involved.

We also had a page of the programme last night, to explain what went on on Thursday. Thanks Rachel.
Essentially, those that were there decided to elect some "officers" so that those wishing to join weren't put off by the thought they might be required to take one of the jobs organising the Supporters Club. Whilst it might start out with a core membership, the Supporters Club is for EVERYONE who SUPPORTS Guiseley, and it would be nice to see as many involved as possible. There is a National Association of Supports Clubs we can join once we are established - this gives even potentially even greater benefits to members.
The club infrastructure is in place - we just need to sort out what the benefits of membership will be, how much it will cost and so on. This will require consultation with 3rd parties such as the club and club shop etc. as well as discussion among the members themselves - deciding what they would like/would expect of a supporters club.
That will be discussed at the next meeting, so put the date in your diaries:-
THURSDAY 30th SEPTEMBER, 8pm NETHERMOOR CLUB HOUSE.
Come along and be a part of it!
