I came to my first academy game today, and enjoyed a great game, pleasantly surprised at the quality of the football played. I shall be be watching them again on Monday.

Is it not time to start playing one or two academy players in the first team?
If all we are going to do is buy in the players from other clubs, then it is a waste of time and money in running an academy team.

I have seen our academy team play twice now and have been really impressed on both occasions, the quality of football they play is unbelievable. I would recommend anybody who has the time midweek go see them and you will be pleasantly surprised.

I think a good time to start bringing youngsters through would be when we're not in crisis. They wouldn't learn a right lot being thrown into a failing team. Are you really suggesting we shouldn't have signed Lockwood, Boshell et al and instead used kids to try to halt our plummet down the table? The Academy is 18 months old. Kitty didn't go to their games - I saw Bowser watching from the stands as a paying punter at Bury the other week. Give it time. You can play in it until you're 19 apparently so the best needn't leave at the end of their second season.

Yes it was good to see Mark at Bury, but totally agree now is not the time to start blooding youngsters in the first team, too much pressure can make good young footballers freeze and be detrimental to their development, let's wait until the back end of the season and if there is nothing to play for (hopefully there will be) give them the chance to stake a claim on a first team spot then, there is also the WRCC games where some can be given a chance, the Acadamy is an credit to the club but let's be realistic if one or two player makes the first team it is a major achievement and this goes for any club at any level excluding Crewe who seem to have had talent on tap over the years

The Academy won 3-2, Whitfield got the first before Chesterfield equalised in the second after a shot hit another of their lads back and looped over the keeper then they scored a quick fire second this time a good goal smacked into the middle of the left hand corner of the net from the right hand side of the area We then got our equaliser after Whitfield curled it into the corner after beating a couple of men the winner came from Porritt who hit a shot with power into the corner of the net We perhaps should have won the game more comfortably but we did well to come back from 2-1 down AB
