Adam’s Weekly Blog No. 8 Part 2
Great Guiseley players of today
Last week, with the help of my brother and dad, I looked at the great Guiseley players of the past. Tonight, in a blog written exclusively by myself, I am writing about the great Guiseley players of today, starting with...
Danny Ellis
This man wins us games; he’s a solid defender and makes a difference to the team. When Ellis is absent, Guiseley never seem to be at the races. Danny is 100% committed to the team and would probably play with a broken leg. Steve Kitterick must pull out all the stops to keep him as he will no doubt attract interest from other clubs. He nearly went to Conference North outfit Farsley Celtic a couple of seasons ago.
David Brown
Brown is an extremely quick striker who also puts in a hundred per cent every time he’s on the pitch. He chases after every ball and is a constant menace to defenders. He never gives up and has quickly become a favourite amongst the Guiseley faithful. Opposition defences may think they have nothing to fear with his size but they soon find Brown a handful when the game kicks off.
Steve Burton
Guiseley fans may have worried when Burton arrived thanks to Soccer Saturday presenter Jeff Stelling naming him as one of the worst footballers in England. But Burton has quickly shown that he does not hold that title. He has established himself in the team with a handful of goals and is a solid team player. When you need a confident penalty taker, Burton is happy to step up to the plate.
Mark Whitehouse
Whitehouse is a pacey winger who is another proven goal scorer. This summer signing has given Guiseley the much needed width on the pitch that was missed during Terry Dolan’s spell in charge of the club. He fits in well with Guiseley’s passing game and has created lots of chances this season. The ex Halifax Town man continues to shine in Guiseley colours but doesn’t start enough games for me.
Brice Tiani
Bricey is a quick and skilful player who would be useful in any side. Thankfully this bright prospect has chosen to ply his trade at Nethermoor. Tiani always receives a great reception and is adored by the home crowd. He can change a game in an instant and is another good chance creator who can chip in with a few goals. It is a shame he hasn’t got a regular place in the team.
Adam Muller
This striker is a good partner for Brown as he is quite the opposite in height and build. Muller, a former Ilkeston Town man, has notched a good few goals this season and is capable of getting on the score sheet regularly. Adam has decent ball control and is always aware of where his fellow team mates are on the football field. Kitterick should look to keep Muller at the club if he can.
Chris Bolder
Bolder has a terrifying shot on him which could crack the posts in half and burst the net any time soon. The ex North Ferriby captain can pass the ball well and is a first team regular who always keeps his cool. He will prove difficult to oust from the Guiseley side as he has fully established himself in a central midfield role.
Simeon Bambrook
This experienced veteran, who has also starred for the likes of Emley, Garforth Town and Worksop Town, can play in any position. Most recently, he has taken his place in a solid back four alongside Ellis, Dave Merris and Anthony Lloyd. Despite his age, Bambrook is more than a handful for opposition strikers to pit their wits against.
Next week I will undertake in a little ground hopping as I review some of my few away days at various Unibond clubs.
