The Reserves won 2-0 at Stalybridge last night, a night when league leaders Farsley Celtic lost 4-0 to Pontefract Collieries so we are up there and looking threatening!
The side was bolstered by the addiition of Phil Denney, Ryan Crossley, Jerome Fitzgerald and Alex Callery.
In a game in which Guiseley should have romped away with it having the vast majority of possession and creating countless chances, it was left to Phil Denney and Will Hutton to net the goals.
Ryan made another big step forward on his comeback after a lengthy injury lay-off and looked very comfortable. Jerome too had a good game and both used their expoerience to great effect to give the younger lads a lesson out on the pitch which I am sure will prove invaluable to them.
Phil Denney too had a super game, great touch, strong running and battling throughout whlst Alex got to the line and got some decent crosses in.
With John Douglas now gone Will Hutton slipped into midfield alongside Joe Hendrie and did well and showed he could prove a threat in front of goal. Hendrie had a real battling game and Chris Davey once again proved a threat down the left.
Dan Husband is finding himself a little rusty after all those outings on the first team bench and a lack of game action but it is nothing a few more games won't put right. He made some excellent overlaps from right-back.
Team: Steve Thompson; Dan Husband (Callum White 75), Ryan Crossley, Tom Higman, Jerome Fitzgerald; Alex Callery (Adam Hill 80), Joe Hendrie, Will Hutton, Chris Davey (Liam Robinson 80); Phil Denney, James Sylvester. Subs not used: Mark Wilby, Ben Reynolds.
The Reserves play Yorkshire Amateurs at home on Saturday (3pm) and then travel to Wakefield next Tuesday (7.45pm).
