Farsley didn't play the same day - their manager and BPA's were both at Nethermoor checking us out. Must be running scared!!!! We have both to play in the run in so it could be exciting. Guiseley Reserves gave debuts to goalkeeper Aaron Ratchford and striker Ryan Newton on Saturday. Aaron is at Leeds Uni and is playing for British Universities and was with Leigh Genesis before coming to Leeds. His arrival has been fortuitous as Tommo has a broken toe. Aaron had an excellent game on Saturday, big, strong, vocal and brave. Ryan joins us from Bradford City and showed good ability up front holding the ball, up well. His wearing of a scrum cap is because he has had a serious head injury in the past. The Ressies went 1-0 down in a very open game which was a delight for the spectators. Manager Vince Brockie shows he is not one to delay when a substitution needs making removing the out of sorts Will Boye after just 18 mninutes. Wakefield took the lead just after the break but Guiseley soon equalised from the penalty spot with a superbly taken spot kick by Liam Robinson. Guiseley as ever stepped up a gear in the second-half due to their superior fitness and got a deserved winner with super sub Mark Wilby on target yet again, this time with a nice header. Newcomer Carl Palmer is settling in well and was a commanding figure at the back. Another excellent performance by the Reserves to stay top of the table. Luke Hudson and Callum White both got a return to action from the bench after sitting out recent games with injuries. Only downside was an injury to skipper Tom Higman. Guiseley: Aaron Ratchford; Dan Husband, Carl Palmer, Tom Higman (Mark Wilby 70 mins), Will Boye (Callum White 18 mins); Adam Hill, Joe Hendrie, Will Hutton, Liam Robinson; Ryan Newton, Rob Bradley (Luke Hudson 70 mins). Subs not used: Sam Robinson, Ben Reynolds. The Reserves next game is on Saturday, February 7, at home to Ossett Albion - snow permitting!
Reserves record this season: League P 19 W14, L 3, D 2 For 57, Ag 24 Pts 44 League and cup: P 22 W 16 L 4 D 2 For 68 Ag 30
Leading scorers: Liam Robinson 11, Rob Bradley 10, Luke Hudson 9, Chris Davey 8, Mark Wilby 5, Joe Hendrie 3. The youngest player in the team, Adam Hill (17), is the only one who has been selected /available for all 22 games. Whilst this is a great achievement for Adam one must not forget the contribution of the likes of Under-18s goalkeeper turned midfielder Ben Reynolds who has been named on the bench nine times and has got on to the pitch just once. Six of those games have been away which is a mark of Ben's commitment to this squad.

Resec Just to more clarify than confirm anything I was informed of a Farsley draw from results from reading several other clubs websites (Harrogate T. for one) giving Saturday's date, prior to the results being published on the league webstie. Perhaps some matches were midweek and written up in error.
Lets hope that with one team in the club doing well success will transfer with the odd player or two regularly to the first team for a starting place than just making up bench numbers. But I somehow very much doubt it!
RESULTS FOR WEEK ENDING 31st JANUARY 2009
