Guiseley Reserves maintained their good form despite a number of changes to the squad and overcame a Yorkshire Amateurs side 6-0 to go top of the Lancashire League East Division.
We are two points in front of Farsley Celtic who have played a game less.
With Luke Hudson and Callum White out injured, Tom Higman working and Chris Davey called up to the first team squad debuts were handed to central defenders Carl Palmer and Will Boye who have been training with the squad for some weeks. Carl slotted in at centre-back alongside Dan Husband and performed well. Will took over the left-back berth vacated by an absent John Cullen - who we now understand wants to leave the club. Will too showed some good touches.
Joe Hendrie, sporting a black eye from a stray elbow at Stalybridge - moved to right back and this allowed the ever loyal Mark Wilby to get a start in midfield where he gave a display full of committment which he capped with another good goal.
He partnered relative newcomer Will Hutton in midfield with Liam Robinson taking over Chris Davey's wide left role.
It was Liam who opened the floodgates with his electric pace giving him two goals in the opening minutes.
The game was killed off in the 15th minute when Rob Bradley bagged a third for Guiseley.
Further first-half goals came from James Sylvester and Mark Wilby.
Guiseley battled on in the second-half but were only able to add one further goal - a strike from Will Hutton - to cap another convincing display by the team.
Former goalkeeper Ben Reynolds made his first reserve outing as an outfield player and the 18 year-old almost bagged himself a couple of goals while 16 year-old Sam Robinson made his debut as a sub. Third sub - one Vinnie Brockie who remained unused!
Team: Steve Thompson; Joe Hendrie, Dan Husband (C), Carl Palmer, Will Boye; Adam Hill (Sam Robinson), Mark Wilby (Ben Reynolds), Liam Robinson; Rob Bradley, James Sylvester. Sub Unused: Vince Brockie.
The Reserves' next game is at Wakefield on Tuesday night and then on Saturday they travel to Ossett Town (2pm k-o) for a key game against a side who also netted six times last Saturday. Ossett are managed by former Guiseley Reserves assistant Paul Lines and are expected to include former Guiseley Reserves midfielder John Douglas as well as possibly other former Guiseley players.
