I was just writing to say that a former Guiseley youth player has sadly been in a fatal accident and has passed away. He was an inspirational person to everyone that new him at Guiseley. It was a pleasure to play with Moley, never stopped smiling and he never gave up, RIP moley a true Guiseley legend!

It has saddened us all to hear of Joel Scott's death at the age of 19. This followed an accident in the river at Burnsall when Joel fell and banged his head. Our sympathies go out to his family and all his close friends, many of whom still play for Guiseley teams. Joel was in the U-15 team Phil Rogerson and I started a few years ago and he made progress through to the U-19 team and the fringes of the Reserve team. He represented the Wharfedale FA U-17 squad in the West Riding County Minor Cup whilst with Guiseley and more latterly has been playing with the Otley Town club along with his fellow former Guiseley colleagues James Davey and Tom Sinnott. Joel had a wide circle of friends in the Guiseley area, having been a former pupil at Guiseley School. He will be sadly missed by all of them. Always a smile on his face and with a great personality he was a great lad to know. RIP Joel Rachel O'Connor

I had occasion to be at Rawdon Crematorium today and saw some of the floral tributes to this young man,how tragic for his family and friends but how wonderful when I hear that many people will benefit from his family's brave decision to carry out his wishes and allow organ donation to take place. A truly lasting memorial I feel. RIP Joel.

Sport is a wonderful thing - you meet so many wonderful people. Joel was certainly one of those. He always came accross to me as a mature and popular young man. I will always be pleased I had the pleasure of knowing 'Moley'. My thoughts are with his family and from my time at Guiseley, great set of friends whom I am sure will continue to enjoy life to the full as Joel would want.
James.
