Guiseley Reserves saw off Guiseley Red Lion at a very boggy Micklefield Park in the Wharfedale FA Challenge Cup on Saturday. Guiseley triumphed 6-1 over a very game Red Lion whose players said they were grateful for the mud as otherwise they would have been slaughtered! Guiseley's scorers were Rob Bradley (after Brice Tiani had hit the bar), Brice Tiani (from the penalty spot), Fernando Moke, Luke Hudson (striker turned centre-back who still likes to get forward and ram in the goals), Chris Davey (one of his trademark class strikes), Mark Wilby (making a rare start but scoring a superb headed goal. Newcomer Chris Douglas made his debut at left-back having previously played in the Northern League with Consett. The tream was: Steve Thompson; Callum White, Luke Hudson, Tom Higman, Chris Douglas; Adam Hill (Danny Forrest), Mark Wilby, Brice Tiani, Chris Davey; Rob Bradley (Liam Robinson) Fernando Moke. Subs not used: Joe Hendrie, John Douglas, John Cullen. The Reserves next match is at home to Thackley on Saturday in a Lancashire League game (3pm).

To all fans not going to Marine on saturday, why not come and watch the reserves game at home to Thackley. It beats staying in or going shopping. You'l see some great football, get a warm welcome from those two gatemen and it's only £2 (£1 for concessions).Plus you will get CDP'S excellent updates from the Marine match from those of us with internet on our phones. So how about it,attendances have not been great for the reserves and they deserve better for the standard of football. Come on down, you will not be disappointed.

I'd guess the attendances have suffered this season as nearly all the Reserves' games have coincided with first-team matches; the fans keen enough to watch them are the ones keen enough to travel with the firsts.
Some great performances, though - well done to Vinnie, Stuart and the lads.

Yes another win for the lads and it took them to the top of the league as Farsley lost to the re-emerging Ossett Albion (Vinnie's prediction about the new Albion side has proved correct). Vinnie tipped them to go places after our 2-1 win there. Scorers for Guiseley Reserves last Saturday in the 5-0 win were Luke Hudson (2), Rob Bradley, Brice Tiania and sub Fernando Moke. Guiseley gave a debut to Steve Kittrick's second Thompson signing - this time Marc with a C not to be confused with Mark with a K who was with the first team at Marine. This ex Ossett Town midfielder has been playing in the York League and he and Dan Husband came into the side meaning that Joe Hendrie and John Douglas remained on the subs bench. Former Consett midfielder Chris Douglas after his debut in the Wharfedale Cup made his league debut at left-back. The Guiseley team was: Steve Thompson; Callum White, Dan Husband, Tom Higman, Chris Douglas; Adam Hill, Marc Thompson, Brice Tiani, Chris Davey; Rob Bradley, Luke Hudson. Subs: Joe Hendrie (for Bradley), Fernando Moke (for the injured Davey). John Douglas (for Hudson). Subs not used: Mark Wilby, Dan Sharry. The Wharfedale FA Challenge Cup semi-final draw will be made on Thursday night. Teams in the draw are: Guiseley Reserves, Baildon Trinity Athletic, Pool AFC and Ilkley Town. The semi-finals will be played on Saturday, December 20th. The three other teams are all West Yorkshire League teams, all three contain former Guiseley players and all three will present a challenge to our young team. See you there!

At the risk of adding to the confusion, is this one the Marc Thompson who was with us a couple of years ago...?
