I'm sorry to report that the Guiseley Res v Farsley Celtic Res match scheduled to take place today (Saturday February 6) is OFF due to a waterlogged pitch.
Good luck to the first team at North Ferriby today.
Have a good week-end
Best wishes
Mick Couzens Reserve Manager

It is a bit worrying that our ground should be waterlogged when there's been no overnight rain and no games are off in the Unibond League. Just how bad is the drainage at Nethermoor?

Yeah - after training the Reserves on the 3G from 12noon to 1.30pm, I went to see Otley Town 3-2 Pool in a West Yorkshire League derby - Otley scored their winner in the last 30 seconds!!!

waterlogged means the ball can't travel across the pitch due to standing water. not playing because it's rained means protect the pitch for the first team. Was the otley pitch waterlogged.

Probably because nobody bothered to turn the pump on! It's clear we only care about the first team - the rest can go to h**l. If you don't believe me just ask yourself how many Directors/committee members ever turn up to watch the second team at home, let alone help out. Without Rachel and Kate we wouldn't have a second team. A couple of weeks ago the lines hadn't even been marked out! But that's what you get when your Chairman is a wet lettuce!

That's nothing, Notts County's Director of Football is a dry Swede.

To be fair the pitch looked OK from the sidelines but once you walked on it from the centre of the goal area right across to the far stand side water came up over your shoes and irreparable damage would have been done if the Reserves or anyone else had played on it. The groundsman is doing extra remedial work this week to make sure we all get a decent run in with the remaining fixtures. Nobody likes games called off - least of all me with all the phone calls we have to make - but common sense has to prevail. We did have snow on Thursday and rain on Friday and with the ground shrouded in fog on Saturday there was little chance of the sun breaking through or any wind to dry the ground out.
