Far from wishing to suggest that all I ever think about is food, I was just wondering what we do with all the food when a match is called off pretty lateish on. I was trying to work out roughly how many pies, pasties and sausage rolls we buy in for each game - and it would obviously have been a lot more for the Kiddy game than for Frickley - but it's been worrying me all week what we did with those that we didn't use because the thought of them being chucked away has really been getting me down.
In any future instances of cancellations and postponements a quick email or text to myself would solve the problem as I'd only be too happy to take a dozen or so off your hands provided they were given free of charge. Better to give them to one deserving recipient that to feed them to the dustbins at the back of the ground...
The club could do far worse than appoint an official footballing pastie tsar to organize the gastronomic chaos for when next we have to postpone another game...

And that's my exact point: No-one ate them at all this week because we called the flippin' games off!

none of the pies went to waste, but they won't be getting put on the bar again, not for all them tight gits who won't put their hands in their pockets during the game

My hands rarely leave my pockets throughout the entire ninety minutes. And anyway, a Gentleman's pockets - and certainly his hands - are his own affair, particularly when he has taken the time and trouble to purchase a Season Ticket. I remain, often longer than is advisable, OB.
