RACHELS REPORT:
The Reserves performed brilliantly last night to defeat league leaders Harrogate Town 2-0 - making it the double over them. With players out through work and injury Mick had to re-shuffle the side and midfielder Sam Whittaker got a rare start and really showed what he is capable of. Guiseley played some excellent free-flowing football driven on by a man-of-the-match performance from skipper Chris Davey.
Young Clark Lydon had safe hands at the back and provided lots of vocal encouragement while centre-backs Dan Husband and Jamie Cairns dominated aerially and on the ground with superb support from full-backs Callum White and Danny Berry, always willing to drive forward.
Sam Whittaker, Sam Robinson, Chris Davey and Will Boye were full of running in midfield and new signing Grant Roberts and young Duncan (Charlie) Beckwith strove manfully up front in place of the absent Paul Wills and Liam Robinson. It was a good debut from Grant, normally a midfielder, and while things did not always go Charlie's way with chances going begging he battled on and eventually got his name on the scoresheet.
For the first goal Danny Berry showed great awareness being up from full-back to ram the ball home after it had cannoned off the bar. Champions form but sadly the championship will not be coming to Guiseley this season.
A great performance by all the team

I would like to re-iterate Rachel’s report – it was a brilliant all round team performance!!!
For the record, Danny Berry followed up to score from Sam Robinson’s direct free kick and Charlie scored due to Chris Davey chasing the ball when all seemed lost – as he did all night – a fine captain’s performance as Chris led by example.
GUISELEY: Clark Lydon gk, Callum White, Danny Berry, Dan Husband, Jamie Cairns, Sam Robinson, Sam Whittaker, Chris Davey, Duncan Beckwith, Grant Roberts, Will Boye.
Subs: Edward Hall gk, Mark Wilby, Chris McCarthy (all not used)
HARROGATE: Lukasz Wiacek gk, Carl Heard, Bobby Melia, Moise Misamby, Greg Boughey, Gabor Nagy, Craig Heard, Kevin Morris, Neshmi Billali, Ben Clark, Zsolt Harmos. Subs: Medhi Billali, Andy Young, Luke McNaughton, Jack Jahan, Duncan McNaughton
TEAM MANAGERS THOUGHTS..........................
What a performance – especially following our two defeats when we lost to Ossett Albion and Farsley Celtic!! You go into the ‘unknown’ when you put out a team full of kids but what you get in return is enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and lots of running – we got that in abundance – all credit to the players.
I would like to welcome Grant Roberts to Guiseley who was with me at Ossett Town at the start of the season.
For the Harrogate match I would like to thank my Assistant Stuart Gray, Rachel O’Connor for being the Reserve Secretary and Kate O’Connor for being the physio.
It was also good to catch up with Dave Heard the Harrogate Manager and his wife Liz who is their Secretary – they also hire my holiday flat in Scarborough!!!!
