We took hold of the game very early and went ahead through a Will Boye brave header and our lead was increased when Grant Robert’s nutmeged the Eccy ‘Keeper.
HT
A great run to the bye line by Calum White ended with an Eccy defender heading into his own net to make the score 3-0. A good pass and move display was ended by Sam Whittaker to further increase our lead. Will Boye added his second goal to give us a deserved 5-0 lead at which point we put the substitutes on. Eccy pulled two goals back before Will Boye completed his hat-trick with a well taken goal.
A very good team performance that took us back to the top of the Lancashire League – although Harrogate Town Reserves can clinch the League title if the beat BPA Reserves on Monday. Note: we have beaten Harrogate twice this season 5-3 and 2-0 - and deserved to - if only we hadn't dropped silly points along the road..........

TEAM MANAGERS THOUGHTS...................
As I’m banned from Eccleshill United’s stadium, I had to get permission to go into their ground..... What a joy it was to have a very, very good performance and a comprehensive victory against an Eccy team that included quite a few first teamers. I asked the question “why are they playing for the Reserves” – the answer “because they won’t play for the first team”. An unbelievable scenario!!!!!
Because we lost Chris Davey (cricket) and Sam Robinson (injury) from the centre mid area, I talked over with Stuart Gray my Assistant, who should we play there? As it was, Calum White was the ideal replacement for Chris and Duncan Beckwith came in for Sam. Duncan has become the ‘Paul Madeley’ of Guiseley Reserves – funny story - because he’s that young, he’s never heard of the former Leeds United legend – we asked Duncan to ‘Google’ Paul to see who he was!!!!!
As I was only appointed Manager last November, it has taken time for 1. The players to understand my style of playing 2. Me to get to know the players and 3. To weed out the players who weren’t prepared to listen to our advice, knuckle down and work hard for the shirt of Guiseley Reserves. If only the season was starting now and not ended.........
For the Eccleshill match I would like to thank Kate O’Connor for being the physio (and taking the micky out of my milky white legs!!!) and to Stuart Gray for his ongoing valued help and advice as my Assistant – Rachel was on duty at Nethermoor with the first team.
CONGRATULATIONS TO STEVE KITTRICK, PHIL THOMPSON AND THE FIRST TEAM SQUAD FOR BEING CROWNED THE UNIBOND PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!!!
