Can I ask just one thing of Steve K?
CAN WE PLEASE SIGN A LOUD MOUTHED, AGRICULTURAL, BARREL SHAPED, SH1T KICKING MORON WHOSE JOB IT IS TO ADVISE AND ENCOURAGE THE YOUNGER PLAYERS, STICK ROCKETS UP THE EXPERIENCED ONES, GET BLOOODY ANGRY ABOUT PERFORMANCES SUCH AS TUESDAY'S AND SPEND THE REST OF THE NINETY MINUTES IN THE REFEREE'S EAR.
Thank you.

And, fans aside, can we have a few similar types who'll do the same job out on the pitch?

STOP
Lets not start a slag off Richard Dunning section.
Richard has done GAFC proud since he joined, just because the guys out of form at moment.
Lets not forget some of the goals he has scored.
Also he always runs on the pitch and acknowledges the fans
Maybe we should be showing more support and encouragement to these guys.
I for one won't Be slagging any player/ Manager/ Official or volunteer.
Up the WHITES !!!!!

I dont know how we can show more support and encouragement than by turning up game after game, shouting and applauding when some nice football and good attacks take place. What we cant be expected to do is applaud the team off the pitch at the end of a mediocre performance.

I agree we have been through some tough times over the years but this is a discussion forum and sometimes discussion is opposing views hoping to find common ground. The common ground wanting Guiseley to do well but we dont have to do it in a tunnel visioned way like the supporters of that lot over the Pennines.

Just let me say that the opening post of this thread was not meant in anyway to denegrate Richard Dunning; anybody who's read my other posts or stood within snarling distance of me at a game will know that I never slag off our own players, at least audibly. But similarly, I never slag off our cat for not barking.
Dunni is a talented footballer and in many ways a good captain, but the situation in which we have found ourselves in several recent games has called for a different approach, a more proactive one that in times of adversity ensures that, however many shots are going wide or passes astray, heads stay up and passion is maintained. Most of our recent opponents have possessed such a player, and have thus gained a vital psychological advantage.
Similarly, the standard of refereeing in this League at the moment is to say the least variable, with a fair proportion of officials electing to underplay their duty to enforce the Laws of the Game and choosing instead to make as few ripples as possible. Under such circumstances - and the good coaches recognize the fact - a captain primed to 'play the referee like a fiddle' is a distinct advantage.
I'm sure that Richard Dunning, shorn of such onerous responsibilities, would soon be back on form and performing the tasks he does best.

Might be a public forum where we can all air our views but please stop and think before posting personal comments. After all if someone criticsized how you did your job on a public forum presumably you'd sue them for slander?

To be fair, John, I haven't seen many postings on here that I'd class as 'personal comments' and thus in any way potentially libellous.
The whole reason that players get paid for playing pro or semi-pro football - rather than forking out two quid to play on Queensway on a Sunday morning - is that sufficient people are prepared to come through the turnstiles on a Saturday. Some of those people just want to see a good game of football but the vast majority - you and I included - want to see eleven players whose allegiance we share roll over the opposition.
Such support is all about emotion, and we all say and do things we (hopefully) wouldn't say or do in our everyday lives. Without getting too deep, the reason for those players' (and officials') being there is to act as a springboard for those emotions.
If somebody chooses to describe a player's performance as rubbish they should be perfectly entitled to do so within the obvious limits, and the Forum is by implication an extension of that right. As I seem to keep saying, I won't barrack our own players as my experience has seen such an action as counter-productive, but it's the individual's choice.
Of course we wouldn't tolerate such criticism in our working lives, but there again we're not in the entertainment industry. And when we mend a pipe, make a sale or close a deal crowds of people don't cheer, clap and chant our names, do they?

Seems to me, Otleybard, that you are in fact making personal comments towards our current Captain. If I were to suggest that we rid this forum of the opinionated loudmouth or the moron who can only string 3 letters together, then surely everyone would know who those comments were directed towards.
If you want to be a supporter of Guiseley then do just that and show support - its not just about turning up and handing over your hard earned, its about being with the team through the good and bad times.
Richard has done a tremendous job since joining the club and should be proud of the role he has played as captain. With a new manager the team is going thru a period of change but we all need to continue to show our support and get behind the team, and when the results start to go our way again we can all be proud that we maintained support and stood behind the lads.

Am I talking to myself here? I'd have thought it was clear from my above posts that I hold Dunni in very high regard as a player and that the only 'personal criticism' was saying he was not the required 'moron'.
And I think that over the years I've spent enough time, miles and money - not to mention keyboard hours - on following Guiseley's fortunes to refute your 'personal criticism' of my being a non-supporter.
But, of course, you're entiitled to express your opinion!

OB, I for one never thought you intended this thread to have a go at a player as you are a true GAFC fan. Just thought certain people were turning it in to one.
P.s The T & A website makes not for such nice reading.
Hope we can ge back to winning ways on Satueday.
