Hello and welcome to the newest edition of my weekly blog.
This week I am assessing our fellow promotion chasers and title contenders.
NUNEATON TOWN
CURRENT POSITION: FIRST
LAST FIVE LEAGUE RESULTS:
Like Guiseley, the Warwickshire based outfit were promoted last season, coming up from the Southern League Premier division. Nuneaton have risen to the top by taking advantage of their games in hand but seem to have gone on a bit of a dip having not won their last two. They are the only side to have beaten us at home in the league all season. They could be real title contenders due to picking up some valuable points over the last few weeks.
ALFRETON TOWN
CURRENT POSITION: THIRD
LAST FIVE LEAGUE RESULTS: WDWWW
By the end of tomorrow Alfreton could have five games in hand on us which will give them even more chance to pick up points and put in a strong challenge for the title and/or promotion. We clash in a six pointer with the Reds at the Impact Arena on February 26 which will, no pun intended, have a big impact on the league positions and who could go on to win it and be promoted.
BOSTON UNITED
CURRENT POSITION: FOURTH
LAST FIVE LEAGUE RESULTS: DWWDW
Guiseley played out a 1-1 draw against Boston last Saturday when Simon Ainge scored but United equalised a minute later through Danny Sleath. Guiseley could have gone on to win the game and gain three valuable points but a draw at Boston is a brilliant result. Boston could pick up some points and put a challenge in for promotion.
AFC TELFORD UNITED
CURRENT POSITION: FIFTH
LAST FIVE LEAGUE RESULTS: DDWLD
Telford are out of form at the minute with only one win in five but could come back in form and rise in the league. They are the only team to beat Guiseley away in the league after a 2-1 defeat at Bucks Head.
TEAMS ON THE OUTSIDE
Solihull, Blyth and Guiseley’s opponents tomorrow Droylsden could all string a few wins together and pose a threat to the promotion places.
Next week I will remember great Guiseley goals over the past few seasons.
