Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my weekly blog.
I must apologise for the late entry this week due to problems with my internet.
With three wonder goals in the 3-2 win over Hinckley United I thought it was right to talk about great goals at Nethermoor and other grounds.
FRICKLEY HALF-WAY LOB
In an exciting game which we ended up losing 3-2, a Frickley player stunned our goalkeeper with a lob from the half-way line. It was a great goal which infuriated the Guiseley faithful because the ‘keeper was well off his line.
KIDDERMINISTER FREE KICK
This was a close encounter that was decided by this 30 yard pile driver which amazed the crowd and took Kidderminster through to the next round and gave them the prize money.
GAVIN KNIGHT’S 20 YARD BELTER
When a Newcastle supporting friend attended this game he leapt to his feet and said this was one of the best goals he’d ever seen. Gavin Knight curled the ball right in to the top corner from outside the area the same day that Obefami Martins blasted the ball out of Goodison Park from a penalty in the Premiership.
RYAN TOULSON’S CENTRE CIRCLE LOB
When Toulson looked up and saw the Gateshead ‘keeper off his line he knew exactly what he wanted to do and that was to embarrass him by scoring from such a long distance. The game ended 4-1 to the Yorkshire men.
ROB PELL’S 18 YARD VOLLEY
When the ball came out of the area in mid-air Rob Pell had only one thing on his mind and that was to belt it in to the bottom corner and score a cracker. The goal won the game for Guiseley.
ANDREW WRIGHT’S DEBUT GOAL
In his first game for Guiseley the quick winger struck it from 20 yards in to the bottom corner. The goal was celebrated in great style as Wright ran towards the fans and cheered with them.
JON SWIFT’S PRESCOT CRACKER
As Swift took the ball in the centre circle fans in the steep stand could see just how far out from his goal the Prescot ‘keeper had wandered. One eye on his opponent and a delightful, precise lob was all it took for Swift to give Guiseley a goal. The midfielder made it look so easy but it was a cracking strike.
WARREN PEYTON’S FA CUP SMASHER
In a game that was levelled by a rare silly Guiseley mistake, the home side were awarded a free kick from outside the area. While Redditch’s wall may not have been the best Peyton still had a lot to do to smash it in to the net.
WARREN PEYTON’S BRACE AT GAINSBOROUGH
After two smooth passing moves including one involving Peyton galloping from one end of the pitch to the other embarking upon four one-twos, Peyton finished in style with two 20 yard strikes.
SAM DENTON’S FREE-KICK BRACE
With Guiseley giving away two silly free kicks, ex-player Denton took advantage and dispatched two blistering shots that ended up in the roof of the net for North Ferriby.
SIMEON BAMBROOK’S CUP SPECIAL
In one of the best ever Guiseley games, the Unibond League Challenge Cup Final at Curzon Ashton, Guiseley equalised against Ilkeston Town with a sublime volley from outside the area. This was one of Simeon Bambrook’s best goals for Guiseley.
If you can think of any more please feel free to comment.
Next week I will look at the crazy prices in the transfer window and the record breaking day in the Premiership.
