Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my weekly blog.
This coming Tuesday Guiseley are playing a West Riding County Cup (WRCC) semi-final fixture against FC Halifax Town.
The game was switched to Nethermoor due to drainage problems at the Shay. As someone mentioned on the fan forum in the past few days Halifax may put out a weakened side.
The league will take priority for both teams after Guiseley’s two losses over the past two league games and with Halifax currently sitting top of the Unibond Premier Division.
They will want to carry on their excellent season in the league, try to win it and get promotion to the Blue Square North.
Guiseley may also field a weakened side as we will want to focus on our title challenge and play off hopes but will also want to win the WRCC to be in with a chance of playing at the home of James Hanson and early nights, Valley Parade.
Halifax are undefeated in their last five, a run which includes a 6-0 win over Nantwich, unlike us who have been beaten three times and drawn once and won once.
Halifax are clearly the in form side going in to this one but last time the two sides met, which was in the FA Trophy, we were victorious 3-1.
While many fans may not want us to progress in the cup, if we beat Halifax we could play at a football league ground which some of the players may never have had the chance to do.
A win would help confidence among the players after a run of three losses has slightly dented an otherwise amazing season.
Next week I will take a look at the atmosphere in games where Nethermoor is packed to the rafters.
