Guiseley Reserves defeated Wakefield 1-0 on Saturday at Nethermoor. Lacking Jamie Cairns in defence young Harrison McPhee kept his place at right-back with Josh Arnold coming back in to the side to partner Danny Berry in the centre of defence.
Will Hutton returned to midfield after time out with a knee problem while Will Boye was unavailable so the team lined up as follows:
Ed Hall; Harrison McPhee, Josh Arnold, Danny Berry, Tas Liolios; Adam Edwards (Cameron Lynn 46), Will Hutton (Shaquille Clarke-Adams 46), Sam Whittaker, Liam Robinson (Capt); Will Knight, (Danny Robson 75) Grant Roberts. Subs not used: Clarke Lydon, Chris McCarthy.
This was a much better Wakefield side than the one Guiseley defeated at College Grove a couple of weeks ago and will remind the Guiseley side not to be complacent about their upcoming League Cup tie at Wakefield on March 31st.
Guiseley did everything except find the net in the first-half and the same sort of luck seemed to be with them in the second as even skipper Liam Robinson failed to score from the penalty spot as the normally prolific striker hit just about every part of the woodwork with the ball.
In recent games Guiseley have introduced two exciting young talents with bags of pace and confidence in Cameron Lynn and Shaquille Clarke-Adams and it was Lynn who found the next after
a tantalising run into the box after being put in by Sam Whittaker.
The Reserves have another home game on Saturday when they entertain Ossett Albion with a 3pm kick-off. Then on Thursday 31st March they visit Wakefield in the League Cup.
