Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my weekly blog.
This week I’m looking at both how the league is shaping up early on and some shocking league results.
Among the shock pacesetters are Hyde and Stalybridge, both have whom have taken the table by storm winning four games each.
For a team who nearly went down last season, Hyde have clearly upped their ante. Stalybridge only secured a mid-table finish last time out but are climbing high so far in second place.
Another former mid table side doing well so far are Worcester who sit in fifth and have netted nine times so far. Tomorrow’s opponents Colwyn Bay are looking confident just a place behind
City.
Gloucester have also so far shown they are no cheeses by rising to seventh and losing just once in their opening four.
Down at the bottom Solihull and Workington are early shock relegation candidates having amassed goal differences of minus 6 each.
Solihull climbed to just outside the play offs last season and the touchline ban of boss Micky Moore as well as the absence of key players is harming their cause.
Workington looked to be a good outfit at Nethermoor last season but are currently struggling having conceded ten goals.
Shock results so far this season include two 4-0 wins for Hyde against Hinckley and Corby. FC Halifax, a side expected to do well, lost 3-1 at home to Corby and could only manage 1-1 draws with Colwyn Bay and Worcester City.
Vauxhall Motors picked up a surprise 2-1 victory at high flyers Boston while Droylsden have put last season’s version of the same game behind them by beating us 2-0.
That’s it for this week folks.
Next week I will review transfer deadline day.
