Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my weekly blog.
This week I’m taking a look at the Premier League.
First off though I want to say I really enjoyed the Supporters Club Halloween night at the clubhouse.
While Brother Brid won some wine I nearly saw off the competition in the stand-up bingo but was told to “bite the dust” near the end despite Volvoman’s cheers.
I had a fantastic time and it was great to see so many people there.
So far there’s been goals galore in the Premier League. Man. City have been hitting them in for fun all season while Arsenal have both conceded eight at Old Trafford but put five past Chelsea.
At the bottom Bolton, Wigan and Blackburn are all struggling.
Bolton have lost 13 of their last 15 while Rovers and Athletic can’t get a win for toffee.
Speaking of Toffees, Brother and Father Brid’s favourite team have had an indifferent start, experiencing both the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat several times.
Their next opponents Newcastle are the surprise package so far as they sit in fourth as one of only two undefeated sides.
Promoted sides Norwich, QPR and Swansea are all doing well, proving some naysayers wrong as they continue to pick up points.
QPR beat Chelsea 1-0 in a controversial match last weekend while today Norwich pegged Blackburn back and Swansea beat Bolton.
City’s 6-1 win at Old Trafford and United’s 8-2 bashing of Arsenal were shocking and have shown just how unpredictable the league can be.
The Carling Cup has produced a couple of big upsets as well with
Wigan and Sunderland falling to Crystal Palace and Brighton respectively.
With games going every which way, who’s to say how the table will look come May 2012?
The Championship continues to live up to its reputation as a tough league with just six points separating Palace in third and Reading in 16th.
It would be good to see a Yorkshire side in the Premier League and this could be Leeds’ year as they are right up there battling for promotion.
Any three teams could be promoted at the end of the season.
That’s it for this week folks.
Next time I will compare our home and away records.
