Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my weekly blog.
This week I’m going to be comparing our home and away records.
In stark contrast to last season we have been better at home than away so far this season.
We have won seven from eight at home in both league and cup competitions but only notched up four victories from eight away.
We have netted 25 goals at home opposed to just nine at grounds other than Nethermoor.
The Lions’ Den has hosted goals galore with a 5-0 thumping of Blyth Spartans and 4-1 wins over Vauxhall and Worcester taking place there.
But a 3-1 win over Workington is the biggest we can boast away from home.
Our strikers have netted well at home with Lee Ellington and Gavin Rothery hitting five each. Away from base Rothery and
Ciaren Toner have found the net three times each.
We’ve also conceded more goals at other grounds than at Nethermoor. Eight strikes hit the net away compared to six at home.
Apart from the FA Cup victory at Stalybridge I can’t recollect a match where we have played as well as we have at home.
It’ll be interesting to see how we do at Worcester on Saturday considering our 4-1 win over them at home.
Every game is different though and you cannot take anything for granted in this tough league.
The WRCC win over Tadcaster on Tuesday night will have boosted the lads’ fitness and confidence having not played since the 2-0 victory over Hyde.
But with Mark Bower a doubt for Saturday it will be intriguing to see who plays at centre back.
Maybe Jamie Clarke will play there, Simon Baldry will move to right back and Burns will take his place on the right hand side.
That’s it for this week folks.
Next week I will pick my ultimate Guiseley XI.
