Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my weekly blog.
This week I’m previewing tomorrow’s visit of Workington.
The Cumbrian outfit come to Nethermoor with a mixed bag of recent results having lost three and won two of their last five matches.
With an unbeaten streak over our last five featuring three wins and two draws we are currently playing some fluent and confident football.
Their last league result, a 2-1 victory over Vauxhall Motors, indicates the visitors should also be full of confidence heading in to Saturday.
Our West Riding County Cup victory over Harrogate Railway from 2-0 down on Tuesday night shows we are resilient and ready for any challenge.
For those not there you missed a Soccer AM worthy bullet from Danny Forrest from the half way line that sealed a dramatic win in the 92nd minute.
Goals from Simon Ainge, Gavin Rothery and Lee Ellington helped towards the result that netted us a home Quarter Final tie with FC Halifax.
Our last league result, a 1-1 draw with Nuneaton, was so contrasting to that and we must look to bring the County Cup spirit in to our league games.
We must look to get at Workington from the start and assert our strength, much like when we triumphed 3-1 in our previous league encounter at Borough Park.
A 2-2 draw was the result last time we met at Nethermoor in March.
We need to make up lost ground on Hyde and Stalybridge and a win against 18th placed Workington will help that but we must take nothing for granted.
The Supporters Club are holding their second Race Night after the Workington game with the first race starting at 7pm. The bar will stay open after the game and food will be available.
Last time it was a fun night and more laughs and frolics are guaranteed this time round. We hope to see you there.
That’s it for this week folks.
Next week I will preview the FA Trophy tie against FC United of Manchester.
