Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my weekly blog.
This week I’m previewing tomorrow’s FA Trophy clash with FC United of Manchester.
The Evostik Premier Division outfit are unbeaten in their last five in all competitions and are on a roll having won their last three.
They’re doing well in the league, sitting seventh and just three points off the play-offs.
Their confidence has been further boosted by knocking out local rivals Altrincham in the last round of the FA Trophy.
Facing a team who last lost in October, we must attack and not be overly cautious as we seek to break down their defence.
Striker Michael Norton is the top goal scorer with eight to his name.
Though they have netted more than a few times, their last league outing, a 0-0 draw with Chorley, has shown they can be stopped up front.
They always bring a bumper crowd to Nethermoor; we must not be intimidated by their vocal support and be up for this big game.
Our last meeting, a 2-0 win at Nethermoor in March 2010, shows we can match the strength brought by their supporters.
We saw them off 2-1 in our last encounter at Gigg Lane in September 2009.
This game is about passion, we must carry our confidence and belief in to a match which will be high on energy and adrenalin.
We enjoyed a rare trip up north on Tuesday night where we came up against a resilient Blyth Spartans side currently bottom of the league.
Despite their equaliser midway through the second half we bounced straight back through Youtube sensation Danny Forrest to lead 2-1.
Steve Drench earned himself a pint of Coca Cola from FatherBrid following a stunning double save at the death.
Tomorrow’s FA Trophy clash, held at 12pm on police advice, should be a cracking game.
That’s it for this week folks.
Next week I will look back at the matches against Boston United over the years.
