Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my weekly blog.
This week I am reviewing the Boston game and previewing the Harrogate match.
We pulled a win out of the hat against Boston last Saturday having gone behind after just seven minutes.
The first of Andy Holdsworth’s two strikes, a powerful free kick, got us level on 17 minutes.
We dominated the game but only got the winner on 77 minutes through Andy Holdsworth’s second strong drive.
However this was a good result against one of our fierce rivals that we dumped out of the play-off’s last season.
It keeps up the pressure on Hyde and Stalybridge who meet on Boxing Day in what should be a cracking encounter.
Talking of Boxing Day, a big Guiseley contingent will invade Wetherby Road for a local clash with Harrogate (pronounced Harro-gate by the posh sods in that strange spa town).
Town have had a mixed bag of recent results having won two but lost three of their last five.
A twist has been added to this local fixture with Michael Brough now starring for Harrogate after departing Nethermoor.
It’ll be tough playing this outfit on their home turf but it should surely rank higher in entertainment than last season’s 0-0 bore draw.
We need to build up our away form and what better chance to improve that than by defeating our nearest local team.
It’s a question of getting at this side straight away as they have proven they can perform well at home.
That’s it for this week folks.
I want to take this opportunity to wish every Guiseley fan in this fair land a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
May Volvoman unwrap a new Corsa, I hope Santa brings Adam Hodgson an Everton shirt from John and here’s to a new sunhat for Otleybard.
Next week I will look at Guiseley’s New Year Resolutions.
