Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my weekly blog.
With our visit to Bishop Stortford coming up tomorrow, this week I’m looking at the longest journeys in football.
Our longest trek last season was to Eastbourne in the FA Trophy where just over five hours by car was required.
When Workington travel to Bishop Stortford they will clock up 326 miles at a fuel cost of £62.92 over five hours and 31 minutes by car.
The same journey would take just over 10 hours and 45 minutes by public transport.
A walk from Workington to Bishop Stortford would take four days and four hours.
In the Blue Square Premier, a trek between Barrow and Ebbsfleet takes five hours and 19 minutes by car.
While this will set you back £59.69 in fuel, there are no direct public transport links between the two places.
That’s the same case in League Two where the longest journey sees Plymouth and Morecambe supporters only able to travel travel five and a half hours directly by car.
In the Championship public transport between Middlesborough and Portsmouth exists but it’ll take you a whopping 18 hours and eight minutes to go the distance.
Alternatively if you fancy a long breath of fresh air it would take you four days and 23 hours to walk between the two grounds.
A lengthy hike also occurs in League One between Carlisle and Exeter City where four days and 20 hours are required by foot.
Public transport travel will take a sleepy 11 hours and four minutes.
In the Premier League a 358 mile round trip is needed by car between Newcastle and Swansea.
A long journey is always made extra special if three points are earned at the final whistle and fans can go home happy.
Come on Guiseley!
That’s it for this week folks.
Next week I will preview the Stalybridge Celtic game and take a look at the return of Wally.
